Typical old rant that we have seen since the frist flight of J20, you are working pretty hard, it's ok, boi, pass the bill in the congress first, touch some grass and leaves us.
Nah, it carry much more weight and task than just a carpet bomber, it is indeed our sixth gen program no doubt and we shall see how it evolve in the next ten years. That plane is like twice the size of the F-22 and so having 3 engines does not mean that China is struggling with turbofan development. 3 engines have been put it to allow it to do what its operational specifications ask for.
It looks like a strike aircraft that will be used to cross the vast open distances of the Pacific Ocean from China's shores, carrying out ground/sea strikes but will also have the ability to defend itself using its stealth, advanced sensors and very long range BVRAAM.
Quick question, I've been reading there's a third 6th gen by Xi'an. I know they're making a stealth bomber, could it be that, or is it completely new?
Xian is working on the H20, it is unlikely for a company without the pass experience of designing a fighter to suddenly come up with a sixth gen program.
It's just a demonstrator. The prototype is likely not going to look anything like the demonstrator. If this is a "fighter" first aircraft then the prototype will be not as big and it won't have side by side cockpit. That plane is like twice the size of the F-22 and so having 3 engines does not mean that China is struggling with turbofan development. 3 engines have been put in to allow it to do what its operational specifications ask for.

Oh, but i am not chinese, i'm romanian. So i'd like to believe i see things differently and without too much bias from my angle (though i do utterly detest the US empire, i try to stay objective and realistic on such military issues- bottom line being that US military gear has to obey the same physical laws as anyone else's, and is not invincible, far from it, as the war in Ukraine shows).
And to be honest, the B-21 is quite pedestrian, a warmed up B-2 concept with nothing radically new about it apart from more modern electronics and materials, very likely as the J-36 has too. And being subsonic, that's easy meat for the J-36.

Three engines absolutely indicates engine turbine issues. Higher costs, higher maintenance, reduced payloads.
China is likely many years behind US state of the art three stream adaptive cycle engines which will almost certainly be on NGAD aircraft.

And the US was flying tailless aircraft…almost 30 years ago.
There’s really nothing novel about this design and the fact it needs 3 engines indicates major turbine issues. High maintenance, high costs, reduced payload etc
Its silly logic, the B21 has 4 engines (F35 ones) so does that create a handicap for the B21?, likely all those things would apply to it as well then high maintenance, cost etc. That plane is like twice the size of the F-22 and so having 3 engines does not mean that China is struggling with turbofan development. 3 engines have been put in to allow it to do what its operational specifications ask for.

It's a demonstrator get it right. The only capability they're showcasing is they can make a very heavy tailless aircraft with 3 engines fly... that's it!You cannot compare this airframe with the Chinese 6th gen platform. The Chinese aren't bluffing. They are simply showcasing the 6th gen capability.

Given this fighter jet, lets call it the J36 is bigger than anything China has fielded 3 engines is reasonable. Also we don't know if the middle engine purpose is something else like to support hypersonic flight or otherwise
