If I am not wrong the author of the article is Indian and an old member of PDF and also member of an Indian defense forum which I believe is also no more active.

She was not very knowledgeable on defense matter but keen observer from Indian point of view on this basis I would rate credibility of the article as 50/50 till the time some more credible source confirm this.

Good observation

Unsure what the credibility issue is, the article is simply reporting deliveires on a deal that we all know about and PAF has declared publicly

If PAF had decleared it officially then there is nothing left to doubt, if not than there is a chance of her being wrong I mean she may have mistaken by commiting intentional double counting of the inventory

PAF acquired some C-130 we know that but quoted figures of 24 C-130 in PAF seem exaggerated in the absence of credible source, therefore would wait for some other more reliable source to report this

How is the 24 number exaggerated?

PAF had around 16 C-130s in the early 2000s, (Mainly C-130B/Es), PAF put all these through an extensive avionics upgrade by Rockwell in 2017.

Belgium order was for 8 used C-130H.

There has been no C-130 loss or retirement since 2017, so 16 planes plus 8 Belgium planes = 24 aicraft no? PAF also stood up another C-130 sqd at PAF Faisal a year or so ago.

Or am I missing something here?

When this deal happened, press reported that some air-frames would be cannibalized for spares. Thats why the actual fleet number is a bit ambiguous.

The article clearly states the planes will enter Pakistan Air force service and have been assigned serial numbers.

IIRC the PAF had 14 C-130B/Es (upgraded to H-standard). 7 more acquired from Belgium, leading to a total fleet of 21 aircraft. But it's worth noting that Sweden is retiring 5 C-130Hs (plus a KC-130H), so those might end up with the PAF too...

Can anyone help me to find reliable online Database for aircrafts inventory, we used to search online Database (other than SIPRI) but currently forgetting the name of the website

Thanks, so I guess PAF would have kept the 14 upgrades with 6 Sqd and given the 7 "new" Belgium C-130s to No 21 Sqd at Faisal?

Do we really need more C-130s?

The more logistics you have the better - these usually run the peacetime backbone and then more so in conflicts
