Turkish Foreign Policy and Regional Geopolitics

I was just watching the news,a bit of what Fidan was saying at the Press Conference.

i gotta say,Cavusuglu was a good Minister of Foreign Affairs for Turkey, but I think Fidan is even better. He has a strong and serious look, without giving off annoying vibes. One may agree or disagree with what he says, but the guy is good as a Minister of Foreign Affairs so far.

He is very good. Cavusoglu I thought was a bit boisterous and getting into fights, especially Dendias. Fidan is more quiet and reserved and moves quietly, but when he does speak, it makes a significant impact.

He has...how can I say it,a presence. Not commanding presence, but a presence anyway. You know you have a negotiator opposite you.

From what I know,Armenians are extremely disappointed by Russia,if not pissed off. In any case, they are disillusioned. Now,after what happened in Syria as well, they are fed up with Russian foreign policies and treatment of "allies".

I believe that Armenia's main problem is its diaspora community. People living in their cozy and safe homes in the West with no care in the world are telling you what to do.

Iran is not the only country facing a decline in influence; Russia is experiencing similar challenges in its surrounding region. Serbia is gradually aligning itself with the West, using the sanctions as a rationale to distance itself from Russia. This shift could have significant consequences for Bosnia, and we must be ready for any potential escalation.

Vucic will never abandon Russia completely. But they are attempting to bring him into the fold, via weapons sales from France and other things.

As long as Albania enters the EU before Serbia, Kosovo interests will be protected.

With regards to Bosnia, things are more up in the air, but he would not dare do something stupid on that front b/c of the implications for EU membership, even thought there is a lot of noise coming from Republika Srpska.

For now, I'm not convinced yet on the Russia decline stuff just yet, given that they have the upper hand in Ukraine, and with them bringing Georgia under their influence, especially since the current Rift between Georgia and the EU.

I think its less a decline and more of a consolidation, with Russia gaining in its immediate neighborhood while contracting in influence further away from its territory. But even that we have to see, given the buildup in Africa with Wagner/Africa Corps.

They are certainly much weaker in the Balkans, but that was a given once Romania and Bulgaria joined NATO and the EU, Russia was never going to hold the influence it did from the Warsaw Pact days.. The Serbia matter was also in decline considering Serbia is a landlocked state since Montenegro broke off, its a shell of its Yugoslav days, it was inevitable that it would be absorbed into the EU fold. Ironically the one thing thats preventing a complete absorption and a cutting off of ties with Moscow is the Kosovo issue. Serbia is still have a hard time coming to terms with its current boundaries, whether in Kosovo or in Bosnia.

“Sudan needs brothers and friends like Turkiye,” said Youssef. “This initiative can lead to real efforts to achieve peace in Sudan.”

Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered in early December “to intervene to resolve the differences between Sudan and the UAE, and to bring peace and stability to Sudan,” according to a statement issued by the Turkish presidency.

I hope we're going to see the day when someone is knocking the UAE into shape. They're literally supporting a genocide in Sudan.

If it wasn't for loose ends in Syria, I would have pushed for a harder backing via direct intervention like Turkey did in Libya and decisively settle it. But for now the #1 priority of resouces is Syria and the removal of the PKK.

I do like that Turkey has given diplomatic support for a resolution Sudan and there have been some rumors that the recent Sudanese govt advances have been helped by Turkey via providing of TB2 drones or other sorts of material support, but who know.

They shouldn't have taken the RSF side in Sudan. Maybe it's something about the gold mines?
