PAF F-16 | Discussions

You can't get (new) Block 52's anymore. You can only get the used ones (if available).

The only new ones are the latest variant of the Block 70/72, but there is a huge queue.

I believe Bulgaria is set to recieve theirs later this year.

Backlog is not that bad I think, maybe 150 planes and Lockheed churns them out at a rate of around 60 a year I think

Of course a major drawback is the continued carrot and stick policy that comes with the F16s. So getting more…or upgrading them means…they will serve more time…which means the control exercised by the US would continue longer into the future.
It might exactly be what the Pak Deep State also wants to maintain the status quo! The Pentagon shouldn't feel like they're being completely cut-off from any leverages in this very important geo-strategic pivot; however, Trumpism dictates limited isolationism. If it brings some $ to the US coffers, that President Trump can't refuse, it's a "smart negotiation".....

Keep your friends close, but enemies closer.....

It’s money Pakistan doesn’t have…especially in context of PAF…acquiring J10s, J35, possibly PFX…etc.

I have a trust on the Pak Deep State. At the end of the day, even after tons of hiccups and setbacks, they can manage it - be it nukes, missiles, jets, subs, Bharat, Afganistan, BD, PTI or something or someone else....

No such thing my man. If Pak deep state had such resources…Pakistan wouldn’t have been begging IMF for decades…and its population wouldn’t be impoverished…
…I personally love the F16…it’s elegant…and my favorite fighter jet. I would love to see it in PAF in great numbers(as a fanboy). But realistically…in terms of money…geopolitical considerations…if it’s not coming subsidized from CSF…it’s better to get more J10s…or more J35s.

Unfortunately the orders are a lot more than you anticipated and the rate of production is far less.

So, if LM can only produce a maximum of 20 Jets a Year, with 133 on order - it might be a while before Pakistan could (ever) be entertained for such a variant.

Such a delivery could stretch out the entire Trump Presidency - and who is to know what type of Democratic nut-job may put our orders on hold at the eleventh hour*.

*That is if Pakistan were to consider going for Viper.

First Block 70 F-16s Are Out For Delivery

Wow! Production cut back massively.

dont know about it being eternal or not......but it stands as I type right now

I really dont see PAF spending any more on new build F16s from the USA. Even with CSF repayments sanctioned funds given the focus on the J10CE, JF17C and the new integrated strategy that forms part of the new strategy. If the CSF replayments(for services rendered and payment for wear and tear ) are ever freed up, there are other things that Pakistan could look at procuring, things like radars, etc..
