PAF SAM based Air Defense System - News, Discussion & Updates

@Quwa , whats the story with the CIWS shown in the video?

Reminds me of the Saab MSHORAD, which combines the Saab Giraffe 1X AESA radar with the RBS-70 NG and C2 suite.

Perhaps the 'CIWS' here is a bespoke system centered on the Saab RBS-70 NG, but with the in-house AESA radar and domestic C2?

On the other side of Border :

Phase 2

The second phase envisages the deployment of detection and targeting guidance radars over the Mumbai Region, India’s primary economic hub. Radars for this phase have been built and tested as of 2022. However, their current status remains unclear as to whether they have been operationally deployed or not.
AD-1 is part of the phase 2 development programme of the Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) shield and can destroy both ballistic missiles and low-flying fighter aircraft.

Made in China air defence systems fail to protect Pak airspace repeatedly

1250285.jpg

CRIMEA, RUSSIA - NOVEMBER 29, 2018: S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile systems as an anti-aircraft military unit of the Russian Air Force and the Russian Southern Military District enters combat duty near the Crimean town of Dzhankoy twelve miles away from the Ukrainian border. Sergei Malgavko

These Chinese assets are either malfunctioning, or have over-promised, or are being handled by untrained personnel.

The recent missile and drone strike by Iran into Pakistan has raised questions in various quarters, both in Pakistan and internationally, on whether the Pakistan military was capable enough to protect its airspace, which has been repeatedly violated in the last few years.

Despite claiming to have multiple air defence assets, which have been bought while spending huge amounts, these defence systems, most of which are of Chinese origin, have failed to secure Pakistani airspace.

I do wanna point out that Mr. Abhinandan failed to mention about the highly trained professionals in the Indian Military. The very ones who were responsible for shooting down their own Mi-17 & killing 7 jawans in the process. And if memory serves, another champion was held responsible & Court Martialed for the BrahMos fiasco in 2022.

I wise man once said (earlier today :ROFLMAO: ) about the author, "...idiot expects these Defense Systems to protect every Hut, Shack or Cave in Pakistan's border areas"

They are not active, it's been confirmed on the ground. Pak-Iran mutually agreed that only in the Baluchistan border strip area, if they see any terror threat can strike each other side. But sent an alert to border security on each side. Few sites report in this agreement China has played a vital role. Because CPEC needs to be activated and linked to both sides and also part of Afghanistan.

Someone should remind this idiot to do a search on how Drones operate on Indian borders, specially in Punjab like a cross country bus.
He should also tell Modi that Pakistani air defence system is ineffective so he doesn't need to wait for any cloud cover.

What is impressive is their dedication to keep the negative PR going at every opportunity they get. This gets picked up by search engines and seo so it does paint a bad picture when folks read it.

Hey bro, Remove that link to the article. It only gives them more traffic and the link from a defense forum will only strengthen its position in the search engine ranking. We don't want to give any credibility or backlink to cooked up indian stories.

On the other note, I hope PAF, PA will deploy atleast some SAM batteries in Baluchistan (especially after the iranian intrusion).

Its a population of 1.6 Billion, I doubt it would make d!ck of a difference to 'em - but i've removed the link (as per your request).

Just so that you know, the forum rules state that one needs to provide source.

Anyways, i've done it.

Air battle over sub continent will be never same again. With PAF inducting ground based Long Range Vectors, it departs the fighter centric doctrine.

Reformed PAF Layered Air Defence has deterred Indian Air Force in multiple domains, rendering their multiple procurements useless.

"PAF - PA could now muster the Long , Mid, Short, Point Defence Layered System from its trusted Partners China & Turkiye , who have enough learnings by deploying S-400 against Aerial Manned Un Manned Targets in EW environment with much improved Electronics & AESA Radars in thier fast evolving domestic products.

A Doctrine shift indeed ..1"

HQ-22 is the PLAAF’s third leading long-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system after the S-300 and the S-400.

Aselsan's Gürz short-range air-defence (SHORAD) system was displayed at the World Defense Show (WDS) 2024 held in Riyadh from 4 to 8 February. This was the system's international debut after it was shown at the 16th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) in Istanbul in July 2023. An all-in-one, layered air and missile-defence system, the Gürz is designed to intercept aerial targets ranging from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of all types and sizes, fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, and cruise missiles from a single integrated system that can fire on the move.

The Gürz system shown at WDS 2024 was based on an Anadolu Isuzu trucks' Anadolu Savunma Seyit military vehicle division 8×8 truck with a two-door armoured cabin. The command-and-control workstation cabin is located behind the second axle.

Four active electronically scanned array (AESA) search and fire-control radars with an identification friend-or-foe (IFF) capability are located on the vehicle's four corners, two on top of the armoured cabin and two at the rear of the vehicle. There are also two datalinks on the roof along with the AESA radar. An electromagnetic jammer is fitted at the rear of the cabin on the left side of the vehicle behind the second axle.

The armament section over the third and fourth axles consists of a four-pod container that can fire either the Göksur or Hisar missiles with imaging infrared seekers, a 35 mm anti-aircraft gun with an automatic ammunition feeding system, and four Bözdoğan and Gökdoğan very-short-range air-defence (VSHORAD) missile pods adjacent to it. At the very end of the vehicle is the fire-control radar and an electro-optic suite consisting of a day/night camera, a thermal camera, and a laser rangefinder.
