In fact I'm interested, but I don't care ... it is a good asset, but not the hyper-super-duper-mega weapon, the USA or Israel would fear as claimed and taken seriously by some idiots or funny fan-boys!

My personal opinion: the Su-35 is the best choice for the Iranian Air Force.

Compare Su35 with other 4++th Gen fighters and it is still a very good fighter.
Pros:
Superb maneuverability and powertrain. Very good mounting capability & range. Superb price/performance ratio.
Disadvantages:
Avionics system, and derived systematic combat capability.

The Iranian Air Force itself does not have an advanced air force system. Therefore, even if the Iranian Air Force gets modern fighters such as the F-15EX/J-16, which are superior to the Su-35, they will not be able to fully utilize their systematic combat capabilities, and they will not be as good in practice as the Su-35, but they will be more expensive. (Ignoring political factors)

Iran could try to negotiate a suitable production capacity for the Su-35. It could try something similar to the Chinese J-11 to eventually get full production capability.

As for the discussion by individual members about using certain components of the Su-35 to upgrade existing F-14, that doesn't make any sense.

Oh, I don't entirely agree with your perspective.

In fact, the Iranian Air Force could also consider the J-10CE, and even the J-35. However, these two Chinese fighter jets rely more heavily on advanced air force systems. Without such advanced systems, their actual combat performance would not be as suitable for Iran as the Sukhoi Su-35.

Iran could resolve its financial issues through oil trade! However, we cannot completely disregard the political factors at that time.

As I said in my introductory post when membership was granted, there are a number of topics here of interest to me. That and I get to see things from different perspectives, not just an American one.

You guys aren't unique. The other forum I hang out at has "special" people too.

Relax brethren. My bad for having a bit of fun on your behalf. I thought you'd appreciate my connotation to your popular culture but apparently not. Seems joke was lost on you but you're still most welcome here. Enjoy your time. We are though very very unique. Might be hard for an American to fully grasp how unique the rest of the world is compared to the US but that's another discussion for another day.

No worries my man. All good.

Another reason why I've been fortunate in my career. Work-related travel has taken me to quite a few places some of which were well off the beaten path.
