Bangladesh Ordnance Factory (BOF) updates

Yes, mortars and 105mm rounds are already produced. (155mm round production also started afaik)

What we didn't had is a Fuze production line. which is frankly the most critical and complex part of an artillery or mortar round. Also, we didn't had propellant production line. Which is also indispensable.

New addition here is, RPG production line and primer production line. Which is good.
And in my POV these have export potential. So we should really focus on vertically integrated various type ammo production...

If true, this is another instance of national security being compromised by corruption within the army.

AK-12/15 development was rushed by Russia which led to many performance issues:

No first-rate military outside Russia has standardised this rifle.
The IG really needs to stop thumbtwiddling on military matters and immediately form an independent military commission to revamp the military and prosecute rotten apples.

Major military procurement decisions must receive technical and doctrinal endorsements from a Joint Services Command which would regulate procurement prcoesses to ensure streamlining, integration, efficiency and prioritisation of strategic needs across the three services.

I don't know if this news is true. There was a tender way back in 2022. Heard there was little progress due to Indian pressure and the war in Ukraine. This news overall sounds sketchy to me.

In my opinion, all Awami-era tenders should be subject to further scrutiny. I have no idea what the IG are doing to reform the military. There are much needed reforms in that area.

The rifle was first introduced in Russian service in 2018.
When the tender was first issued, there was little information on the rifle's performance. The Ukraine war was in its early days.
Wiith various tried and tested rifle systems available around the world, why would BA choose to procure AK-15?

What are the chances that these tenders will materialize and how much time will it take to start the rpg production
Good chances. Maybe it takes few years, but it will happen.
No major sanction concern with getting support from Pakistan or China at this time.

Current CMIC sanctions on Chinese military industrial complex does not comprehensive block all transactions with Chinese MIC.

"The prohibitions of E.O. 13959, as amended, apply only with respect to certain purchases or sales of publicly traded securities of entities listed on the NS-CMIC List. E.O. 13959, as amended, does not prohibit activity with entities listed on the NS-CMIC List that is unrelated to such securities, such as the purchase or sale of goods or services. E.O. 13959, as amended, also does not prohibit the purchase or sale of goods or services with respect to subsidiaries of such entities."

Where there’s will, there’s a way.

Lots of eastern European countries will also invest if we give them good return.

In case of Pakistan & China, they can arrange a good round way around the road blocks.

Hoping for a good time ahead.

The reason AK 15 may be getting the go ahead is because it uses 7.62x39mm ammo, same as BD 08. The idea I think is to use the existing infrastructure to be able to domestically produce these without any major changes.

Also, I am guessing the jump from producing BD08 to AK 15 may not be too big given they all share the same AK DNA. Again, a case of ease of mass production using existing BOF facilities.

Here is a list of rifles that chamber 7.62Ă—39mm - there are many modern, quality options yet they choose a problematic one:

One of the deficiencies of the AK-12/15 is an unstable piccatiny rail which can render optics and laser sights usless due to loss of calibration.
One of the biggest drawbacks of BD-08/type 81 is lack of an integrated piccatiny rail - if the replacement rifle cannot provide a useful rail, what is the point of upgrading to begin with?
Bangladesh Army is decades behind modern armies when it comes getting regular soldiers adept at using state of the art accessories on a regular basis (as opposed to limiting usage to special operations teams) - it takes a lot of training to get used to things like using optics to aim under pressure/adrenaline rush.
The star-plated clowns do not care one bit.

Since BA is obsessed with keeping 7.62x39mm standard issue and too lazy/incompetent to standardise more accurate and lighter rounds like the rest of the world, they should seriously consider the Beretta ARX160 series as the the successor for BD-08, Type 56 SMG, and G3.

This is a very potent, modular rifle that can chamber 7.62x39mm and 5.56x45mm NATO.
It is fully polymer, has low recoil, supports flexible left hand/right hand charging, mag release and casing ejection, stable piccatiny rail, foldable telescoping stock (variable length), has a compact version for CQB/special operations (perfect for 46 Bde, 1st Parra Cdo) amongst various other quality features:

In terms of ToT, BA might have to reach some form of compromise with Beretta - perhaps buy 20-30,000 complete units (so that Beretta can make money) and then ongoing licenced production at BOF.

Is there any source to this? Haven't heard anything about rail being unstable.
