I think Israel and others far exaggerated their capabilities, or they did a poor job of protecting them. They kind of couldn't afford this war from their perspective and didn't really want to fight it. It went bad in my opinion.
That's why I prefer to avoid hype and buildup and propaganda videos. But Hezbollah will need to get back up and reassess and I expect they'll take the Israeli threat more seriously now.
Hamas was always serious about confronting Israel and Hamas regularly engaged in conflict with Israel and adapted to be the most effective form of itself it could be. What Hamas misread was willingness/readiness of others (Hezbollah, Palestinians in West Bank, Arabs of Jordan and elsewhere ) to join the struggle.
But Hamas is the most experience in combat with Israel like I said in the past and is familiar with Israel's offensive doctrine. It was not prepared for the genocidal wholesale destruction, however, which greatly complicated Hamas's defense plans. But nevertheless, they know Gaza the best and will not leave it or allow IDF forces to roam freely without consequences.
