Iranian airlines have been buying a couple of second hand ERJ135/145 for the past 2-3 years. It has become harder to illegally purchase second hand Airbus and Boeing by evading sanctions so airliners have been buying these. If Iran were to convert these ERJ jets into AEW&C then the international community would really clamp down on Iran's sanction evading purchases of commercial jets. The only reason they haven't gone after their ERJ purchases in comparison to the Airbus/Boeing is because ERJ are much smaller and aren't as useful for transferring military cargo to their "proxies" as accused by the international community.

Considering how common this aircraft is used for AEW&C purposes, its surprising how Iran is allowed to purchase them freely.

Major powers don't expect Iran to make the ERJ into a suitable AEW&C platform. It would require a lot of budget and investment that Iran does not have room for. It would be nice to see if they could try it, but given their record, I'd keep expectations extremely low.

because we need to be able to buy and use them in our civil section ...
anyway , by getting Tv-7s from Russia , our Iran 140 program main problem will be solved and if there is any will , we can have an initial platform for our military use ....

SImorgh/IRan140 program is messed up by lack of budget. Iran does not need 50 of them, just may be 15-17 for Maritime Petrol, AEW&C and logistics.

Truth be told I see it as an ego project now, the ease with which Iran smuggles in these quite modern cargo jets means Simorgh is just not needed that much anymore.

Lack of budget = Lack of will of IRIAF.

Money is really not the problem here, urge to change the mediocrity is.

if any Western nations want some Pakistan threatens nuclear retaliation if attacked and gives cover to Iran

a prior agreement with China allows China deploy its Carriers forcing the US to split its carrier fleet and Russia backs Iran by having a standing army in Europe if they try to intervene

Iran-Russia and Sino-Pak alliance would then force the coward Arabs to side with the East

Alas only a pipe dream I know

^ Taghvaee saying SU-35S transfers have already stopped since Russia has once again midway chickened out of the full transfer order of 48 + 12. Probably 12-24 have already arrived. The IRIAF pilots who were trained in Russia on SU-35S are being transferred to Yak-130 (12 total).

Su35s are not coming unfortunately. We waited for a decade for the su30s but they didn't come. Usa/Israel will not accept cutting edge technology given to Iran, same with North Korea but difference is China gurantees N Korea security.

Iran needs to concentrate on AI, and work on the drone technology, an stealth AI long range attack drone like the Turkish Anka 3 or Kinzilmia is a must. 7th generation fighter jets most likely will be unmanned.
