66 new Viper (F-21) bought from 2020 also Taiwan is converting every one of their 141 F-16A/B into Viper Block 72 (Same as F-21 but with upgrade kits), majority of them already converted, IIRC there are still about 70 or so waiting to be convert, the entire program to be done in 2027

Taiwan is going to be defensive if and when they are invaded by China, which mean the threat of J-20 or J-35 will be dealt with by ground base SAM/IADS (Patriot/TC-2/and from 2026 onward, NASAMs) Bear in mind Taiwan Patriot is the same one the US was using, and that's coded for Stealth Aircraft (as US operate them since 1990)

F-16 or other fighter (M2000-5, F-CK-1) will be used as CAS, in most wargame, when US is involved, ROCAF give the boost that they needed when China 5th gen and US 5th gen cancel each other out, where F-16V will be facing Chinese 4th gen fighter such as J-10 or J-11 or J-16.
 
F-16 is good but it's no match for the upcoming J-36.

Yes, but they are not alone if you invade Taiwan, USA/UK back them up, and also F-16V uses latest and classified electronics/Avionics/AESA/EW/ECM/ECCM from F-35

It's all about which sensors can see better in a high-tech electronic warfare battlespace which US wargames several times a year with allies. Advantage goes to US sensors they will perform and burn through the clutter much faster. Taiwan F-16V's don't have to use its radar to shoot down fighters it can link to their PAC batteries or US sensors like ships and AWACS or even F-35's that will likely be lurking using their sensors to lob aim-120's.

F-16 is no match for J-20 just like Su-27 got slaughtered by Su-35 in the skies of Donbas.

China is way bigger than Taiwan compared to Russia is bigger than Ukraine. There's no way the US can send supplies to Taiwan. Ain't no road on the ocean.
