They did make it political. But yes.... if we gave them more than we had, they might have looked the other way.

France is the most greedy and corrupt nation on earth. Sure it won't show up on any survey (because they are European... gasp) ... but they are.

When we needed some very special machines to simulate the force of an atomic blast.. cold testing .. or whatever it's called.. we needed some very fast measuring instrumentation that can never be bought on the market. I believe we made those instruments but the wiring had to be extra special to send the signal to the instruments before it got vaporized by radiation.

Enter the son-in-law of some minister of France who was "ghar-damad" (husband who lives with the in-laws... lowest of the low)... and tired of the lack of respect shown to him by his father-in-law.

So he sold us wires and electronics left over from the French nuclear tests in Polynesia. So he could become rich and move out of his in-laws' house and show them the finger. Which he did.

Agreed, but when it comes to corruption and greed we Pakistanis can compete at the very top international levels too my friend, although granted, we always stick by our close allies
 
Our corruption is personal. Just a greedy person who happens to be in a position to take advantage. It can be fought against... in theory.

French corruption is institutional. It is VAST and it can hide itself under layers of legaleeze-sleaze. It's part of the structure so it can't be fought against.

There is a reason why most ex-French colonies are basket cases while British Commonwealth nations, are not. Even ex-Spanish nations are doing okay.

Look at Haiti. And then compare with the Dominican Republic (ex-Spain) right next door.

Rafale for sure, as for the SU-57, what's the state of play there? They have their prototypes and around 20 production planes in service, which are held back for defense of the Russian homelands.
I think if the Ukraine war wrapped up then yes it will be a go for them.
India is best off with the upgraded Rafale and maybe putting money into the fifth generation Franco/German project.
 
The reason Raffle why it's expensive. It is expensive because most European nations chose Euro fighter Typhoon, that's literally how Rafael project started, France wanted a different fighter. Consequently they can't sell it to other Europeans and there's very little market outside to purchase an overpriced 4gen fighter. It is expensive because production numbers are low. Its customers are all outside of western Europe in places like Egypt, india, Qatar etc.

Im from UK and without offence, we know better than a 3° world country they cant even point France on the map. A things good about France armament industry? Marketing and corruption.

Rafael is outstanding because France makes it, India bought it because their Sukhoi Raptors& Miage 2000 and Migs got tossed around, by PAF on that fatal day but I wouldn't count on Indian judgement in military matters.
