He sounds like the call center scammer who spam calls my number.

Everyone agrees — water is a basic need and belongs to all. There's no debate about that. In fact, in our culture, even guests are welcomed with water and sweets.

Previously, India deliberately avoided raising the issue of water to maintain diplomatic courtesy and respect the treaty with Pakistan, hoping that relations would improve over time.

Even today, if India were to revoke the treaty, what realistically could be done in response? Perhaps some calls for sanctions — but in reality, there are many loopholes, and business would likely continue as usual without any major impact..

There was a time when India wasn’t even fully utilizing its own share of water under the treaty. But as time progresses, it’s inevitable that India will begin to assert greater control over it — not to divert, but to manage its share more effectively,

controlling water - is another playground and china also trying to play it

If China stands with Pakistan, it could be game over for India in this water war. While India may divert the Chenab and block the Jhelum and Indus (moves that won’t significantly hurt Pakistan if we expand storage capacity on the Indus, since we already have sufficient storage on the Jhelum) China holds the real leverage to shift the balance. Forget the Brahmaputra; with Beijing’s backing, Pakistan could potentially divert the Sutlej into the Indus from Tibet, and India would be powerless to stop it. What India perceives as leverage today could very well turn into a strategic nightmare tomorrow.

Kind of a strange argument, along the lines of environment, human rights etc to say that the Indus Water Treaty is now in suspension, so let Pakistan make a case for Pakistan's rights because under the Treaty, Pakistan's 'hands were cut off'.
BTW, plenty in Pakistan's Punjab don't like the IWT and they curse Ayub Khan for that. Personally, I think the IWT should be kept. It is not perfect to either India or Pakistan but it has stood the test of time. We all signed on the dotted lines and we all honor that.

This technocrat was not a very good technocrat it seems.

Treaties are made through the "balance of power" at the time they are made and reflect what is achievable by both sides. Any new treaty now, give India the balance of power as Pakistan does not have the same leverage as before and Pakistan will come worse off. It is in the interest of Pakistan to maintain the IWT, and not think it can better it, as it cannot. The rest of the world will support India, not Pakistan.

That should be the bare minimum but we shouldn't be limited to this.

Yes, Get the ball rolling & other options will naturally follow.
Not a good idea .

Creating a robust state will go a long way

State is as robust as it can be. We are used to internal instability, that’s just how we are. We thrive in Chaos.

The terrorists asked the men to recite 'Kalma' three times... All those who could not recite it were shot.

We normally see such attacks in India just before the general elections. So that ruling party can garner sympathy. I am surprised to see it now as it is quite unusual time when not much is happening in India right now.

Maybe the trade war / tariffs issue to keep US on her side but it is unlikely scenario

Again - just to add that, it will impact india but not that much, but will nightmare for Bangladesh!.

It will reduce the flow of water but still not fully, that will be sufficient for North east india.

But - question arises- what about bangladesh?

The problem with Indian culture is that they consider کمینگی as wisdom. All cultures suffer from this to some extent but the Indian religio-polity has taken it to extremes. This کمینگی has led them to strategic miscalculations repeatedly.

1- Indians have probably learned from 2019 war with PAF, hence, PAF needs to be very careful not to repeat the same playbook.
2- India has been builting numerous dams stopping the flow of rivers in Pakistan but the corrupt Pakistani generals have done nothing but continue with their loot and plunder.
3- The corrupt generals have not done anything with the terrorism in Baluchistan sponsored by India.
4- With Taliban, they should have dealth with them decisively.

It is still not too late. The cowardly attitude of Pakistani generals has embolden Indian even more. Just imagine Pakistan generals afraid of malnourished dirty indian panjeets - it is an absolute disgrace and shameful situation.
