Yes, India already has the ability to engineer droughts or floods in Pakistan at will, even with its existing infrastructure.

No it doesn't

Pakistan suffers more from environmental and climatic challenges and its poor water management than anything else

It is good to be realistic. But feeding delusions of enemy isn't a wise thing to do

But IWTs existence meant there were some rules established on what both sides can do.

Agreed

But still this should be taken as another jumlabazi by Modi. Similar to like 56 inch chaati and all that BS

Pakistan however should be ready for anything including war to get its water. It is a red line after all

Indians struggle to use all the water of river ravi that as per IWT completely belongs to them

Every year they release water on Pakistani side to cause flooding

The fact is as of today Indians have very little ability to store or divert water of 3 Pakistani rivers

They can build required infrastructure in a decade or so. Yes. But not today. Even feasibility reports and studies would take years to be completed let alone the infrastructure itself

All in all. It is a new lollypop by Modi to his nation. just like surgical strikes

it sounds really good when you say that you are going to starve your enemy to death. That is it. Such kind of jumlabazi works in India

Let’s be real, it’s far more than a headline grabbing move or a lollypop by Modi to his nation (as you have put it).... it’s a calculated strike right at Pakistan’s core, timed perfectly when the country is politically fractured and teetering on the edge of instability...

IWT scrapping isnt something minor. IWT stood the test of multiple wars. India scrapping it now means they want to use our water resources as a strategic weapon against us. The idea that India can gradually choke off our western rivers isn’t just provocative; it’s a direct threat to regional stability and millions of lives in Pakistan.

@M. Sarmad While some voices may float ideas like striking dams, it’s important to understand that such ideas stem from the existential fear of being denied a lifeline. However, we should deepen ties with regional allies, and bolstering water storage and conservation infrastructure within Pakistan.

And make no mistake yall, this isn’t just a treaty issue. It’s about sovereignty, survival, and the dangerous precedent India is setting by unilaterally walking away from a decades old agreement. Its a declaration of war against Pakistan.

Fair enough

Lets agree to disagree then :)

When will decisions of Islamabad national security meeting and New Delhi all parties meeting be released?

Under the cover of run-of-river projects on the Chenab and Jhelum, India has already stored over 250,000 acre-feet of water, quietly gaining control over rivers meant for Pakistan under the Indus Waters Treaty. This means India can hold back water in winter, creating drought-like conditions, and release it during monsoon to worsen floods. Simply put, India now controls the tap, while Pakistan’s Mangla Dam sits at its lowest level in a decade. And regardless of all the chest-thumping, if India truly goes ahead with scrapping the treaty, the fallout for Pakistan could be far more serious than many realize.

As for Pakistan's options, we practically have a very few. Taking the issue to the UN or World Bank sounds good, but they can’t actually force India to stop... international law is just international morality, which powerful countries seldom follow. As for war, it may sound like a bold response, but it’s not something Pakistan can afford or win in its current state...

Everyone agrees — water is a basic need and belongs to all. There's no debate about that. In fact, in our culture, even guests are welcomed with water and sweets.

Previously, India deliberately avoided raising the issue of water to maintain diplomatic courtesy and respect the treaty with Pakistan, hoping that relations would improve over time.

Even today, if India were to revoke the treaty, what realistically could be done in response? Perhaps some calls for sanctions — but in reality, there are many loopholes, and business would likely continue as usual without any major impact..

There was a time when India wasn’t even fully utilizing its own share of water under the treaty. But as time progresses, it’s inevitable that India will begin to assert greater control over it — not to divert, but to manage its share more effectively,

controlling water - is another playground and china also trying to play it
