JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

How many JF17 are assembled each year?

My sixth sense was tingling when I asked the same question on Monday I had a subconscious feeling, it was just too quite

I did not realize in matter of 2 days things will rapidly develop

The existing fleet is more then enough

The 26 craft number is quite modest

actually it is pretty good to have that much of capacity. However, we have not achieved that number ever .

Consider India struggling to make even a squadron of samosas in a year, look at France that can do a maximum of 24 rafels per year.

Finally PL-10 & PL-15 …
In light of the current tensions between Pakistan and India, the PAF has decided to release photos of the JF-17C with PL-10 and PL-15 for the first time.

And why’s that?
Dual racks have been on the list for a while and they’ve been operationalised with b3.
I know that the JF-17B3 can be mounted like this.
However, as an air superiority combat mounting solution, this is too violent. It will affect the maneuverability of the fighter.
4x PL-15 > 800Kg; 2x PL-10 > 210Kg; 3x auxiliary fuel tanks > 1800Kg
The total weight is lower than the maximum load of the JF-17B3.
So, in theory, it is completely fine to mount it like this. But it is not necessary. In actual combat, the configuration of "2x PL-15 + 2x PL-10" will be more balanced.

The twin racks have been the main feature on JF17-B3.
The likes of PL-15 are not exactly your close combat weapons but rather known for their stand off capability.
As for auxiliary fuel tanks, its common knowledge that these are jettisoned before the aircraft Engages into a dogfight.

It’s a BVR loadout, you’re not exactly doing BFM loaded out like this.

It is absolutely necessary, typically you’re launching two missiles a target, you will be left with enough to engage another target.

Above all else, I trust the PAF to know what works best for them and their tactics. Not any armchair experts.

Don't get excited. I'm not an "armchair expert", I'm just an ordinary military enthusiast.

1. In China's military philosophy, "propaganda work" is one of the important components of war. It is not a derogatory term. The CCP was able to win the KMT-CCP Civil War, and excellent "propaganda work" was one of its core factors.

2. For Chinese military fans, seeing the JF-17B3 adopt the "4+2" air-to-air missile mount is both happy and "jealous". After all, the PLAAF's J-10C usually adopts the "2+2" air-to-air missile mount. Our mood is very complicated. ------Other people's light fighters all use the "4+2" scheme, and you, a medium fighter, only use the "2+2" scheme?

Can you understand this feeling?

4+2 is a very normal load out. Same is used on PAF F-16.
