Where do the world's billionaires live? We look at the top nine countries for billionaires by citizenship, using this map.

Mapped: Billionaires by Country of Citizenship in 2025​

In 2025, there are over 3,000 billionaires globally.

While you can find billionaires from Albania to Zimbabwe, the vast majority of them live in a few select countries and hubs.

In fact, about 73% of them live in just the nine countries on this map from Statista, which pulls data from the Forbes World Billionaires List.

Billionaires by Country​

The below table breaks down billionaires in the top nine countries globally.



The United States and China combine for 1,416 billionaires, which is just short of half of the global total.

In the next tier, there are three other countries with 100+ billionaires: India (205), Germany (171), and Russia (141).

Perhaps surprisingly, Canada comes in sixth place with 76 billionaires. This puts the Great White North ahead of countries like Italy, Brazil, the UK, France, Switzerland, Singapore, or Australia.

Billionaire Migration​

With virtually unlimited resources at their disposal, the world’s ultra-wealthy can relocate with ease—often doing so to optimize for business, lifestyle, or legacy planning.

Amid rising geopolitical tensions, trade wars, and market volatility, high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) are increasingly reassessing their home bases. Some seek stable jurisdictions with favorable tax regimes, while others prioritize countries offering investor visas, asset protection, or stronger rule of law.

Tariffs and capital controls can also influence where the wealthy choose to live or operate. As global uncertainty grows, strategic migration could become a hedge—allowing billionaires to future-proof both their wealth and personal security.

As of April 2024, Forbes estimates there are over 2,700 billionaires worldwide, with a combined net worth of $14.2 trillion.

But even among the ultra-rich, wealth is far from evenly distributed, with a significant concentration in just a few countries and among a small group of individuals.

This graphic visualizes the total wealth held by billionaires in the top 11 countries with the greatest billionaire wealth.

American billionaires hold the lion’s share of global billionaire wealth, collectively controlling $5.7 trillion—more than the combined wealth of their counterparts in the next 10 countries ($5.5 trillion).

According to Knight Frank, the U.S. is home to 30% of the world’s billionaires and accounts for 40% of total billionaire wealth, the highest share in a decade.

The Knight Frank Wealth Report 2025 indicates that India has 191 billionaires, with a 12% increase year-on-year. The total number of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) in India, those with assets over $10 million, also rose by 6% to 85,698, according to the report.

The number of high net worth individuals in India (worth $10 million and higher) increased by 6 percent year-on-year in 2024 to 85,698, according to real estate consultants Knight Frank's wealth report, released on March 5. Knight Frank added that at the same time, the number of billionaires in India increased by 12 percent year-on-year to 191.

The report added that the combined wealth of billionaires in India stood at $950 billion at the end of 2024, ranking third on the global list, even as the United States led the rest of the world in that regard, at $5.7 trillion. Mainland China was second on the list, at $1.34 trillion.

How we see news of post #3? Chinese side couldn't twice Indian billionaire total wealth, measured between $950bn to $1000bn, placed at 3rd number, post#3

Just see the map and look like there is no billioners (USD) in both Pakistan and BD

It is also surprising to see tiny Singapore with 1/ 3 Indonesian nominal GDP ( could be 1/ 6 or 1/8 Indonesian economy for PPP calculation) but having more billionares than Indonesia.

In USA, I believe many new billionares comes or start from tech industry. This is the industry where it needs to be exploited by people from developing nations.

Actualy dont need to come from rich families to start the business in this industry with big opportunity to scale the business much faster than traditional type of business

Most billionares wealth come from their stock calculation in stock market. Actually it is not real cash, but rather market calculation over their shares in their companies. Sharif dynasty in Pak I believe dont have big business that is listed in Pak stock market

300 million odd I read but I've often seen them referred to as billionaires too.

but these crooked political families often hide their true wealth, same with the famous Italian Indian dynasty here who push socialist policies for the people.

How do you people see my post #6, with reference of post #3 stating Chinese side isn't even 1.5 times to Indian 'total' of all billionaires, standing at $950bn by end 2024? Chinese billionaire's totals $1.34trillion, as reported in post #3 reference...

It's all about how big business these billionaires run

I don't believe in these GDP datas, the bluffs of Western countries

I was in class 10th, by 1990, and economic reform was introduced by Mr N Sharif of Pakistan and Mr N Rao of India by the 1991, both had few months difference, following the fall of SU by 1990, and the start of Commonwealth organisation by 1991......

Pakistan was richer than India & China both till 1990, since history till 1990.

Jumma Jumma 30-35 years passed. What elders of China couldn't do since history till 1990, and how Pakistan is so poor,?

Till my class 10th, 1990, Pakistan was using F16 , Western arms, and the India was using 'inferior' Mig29s, the SU-india combined arms. And Chinese 2nd generation aircraft, what would I say ? China's first SU27's 'clone', the first 4th generation aircraft J11 came in operation by this century.....

Our india-SU combined Gorskov we built in 50s-60s. And first Chinese AC they got from 'our' Ukraine by this century.

I said, it's too early to comment about lies of US-west, and rise of China

The age im from, it looks foolish for me to read about either Ship or aircraft industries of China.....

I always thought 205 was greater than 191

The report added that the combined wealth of billionaires in India stood at $950 billion at the end of 2024
