China hits back at Canada with fresh agriculture tariffs

Lol, Anybody trust what Trump and company are boasting every day ? China's GDP grows at 5.4% in the first quarter of 2025 while US GDP grows at -0.3%.

The two world powers need to negotiate a way forward to reduce American trade deficit and bring stability to global economic outlook. Needs of people should be top priority. Maybe China can offer to open some manufacturing plants in the US.
US deficits have nothing to do with China, after the first trade war with China in 2018, US trade deficts skyrocketed instead of coming down.

China won't negotiate with Trump's gov until the tariffs on Chinese products have been reduced to zero, the Chinese gov has made it clear repeatedly. Trump can't be trusted, he will break any agreements made with China or others any day when he feels like it or just wants more, China has learned that hard way with all the negotiations and agreements with his gov in his first term.

China started seizing corporate assets in trying to intimidate companies from leaving.

According to the latest report, the Cupertino firm has attempted to shift its production equipment outside of the region, but authorities have impeded the company’s efforts, forcing Apple’s partners to employ creative strategies to move those machines overseas.

I predicted this behavior yrs ago on this forum.

China's surpus with US still grows rapidly after Trump's first trade war with China in 2018

China's trade surplus with the world from 2010-2024
China's global trade surpus with US grows rapidly after Trump's first trade war with China in 2018, US market doesn't affect China's overall global trade and surplus growth the slightest.

Lol, it's now public policy of China to restrict the export of Chinese sensitive tech, parts, equipment, machines and tools to India. What's in there for surprise.

US always blames China for its own economic woes, China is the bogeyman the US politicians keep going back to wherever an US domestic problem arises, after so many years of playing this trick, now only fools would still fall for it again.

No. Those equipment are Apple's, not China's. Apple, as owner, have the right to move its assets anywhere they want.

As I commented elsewhere, I still have contacts with Micron and Intel, and right now, this news is troublesome in Boise and Santa Clara, because today it is hardware, tomorrow it will be people, in other words, China is looking to engage in hostage diplomacy.

"The Information’s Wayne Ma reports that Chinese authorities are making this transition painful. For instance, the details mention that one of the company’s equipment suppliers was not allowed to export machinery to India, which would be necessary for the iPhone 17’s trial production, forcing the supplier to get creative with unique ideas."

--equipment suppliers being Chinese companies in China.

Lol, who is the country first to order Chinese Huawei's CFO Meng kidnapped few years ago ? Talk of hostages taking as US has the moral high grounds, just look at the US history of kidnappings of foreigners all those years.

If China resort to hostage diplomacy, which by now every corporate CEOs in America and Europe is worried on this early news, do YOU approve of such tactic?

US did all the time including to allies like France and Japan. I personally don't like to see China goes on that way now.

Like I said earlier, buddy, today it is hardware, tomorrow, it WILL be people.

YOU can nitpick on if the issue is supplier or not, but the core of the problem is already worldwide known -- China is seizing corporate assets.

That's more of your paranoia.

China has 1.4 billion consumers and US has 3, who will be eventually the biggest consumer market in the world? Can US manufacturerers go without China?
