are you sure its not another botched up Iranian media work that they take something of the net and slap it into the news without knowing about what they do

they were supposed to be training vessels for Iranian personnel so when we receive Kidd-class destroyer they be ready sadly those orders get cancelled

There is simply to ask what is the latest ship bought by Mohammad Pahlavi and figure out the date it was commissioned, if it's after 1950, the Oerlikon is different from the WW2 crank-use Oerlikon

Or simply on what is based Moudge, if Iran has hands on the at the time modern Oerlikon, it should have these ones, not a WW2 variant used with a crank without any sights

I didn't say they operate ww2 orelkion . we sold those to Pakistan when we sold babr and plang to them more than 30 years ago so they could scrap the ships.

the problem with our 20m cannons that i wish them to be replaced is they are manned and stabilized and i believe such gun have no place on a ship I even don't like them on fixed installation but at least on ground you can hit some target with them if you are trained on ships even Silvester Stallone with the help of a platoon of Hollywood special effect specialist and receiving direction from George Lucas cant hit anything with them


by the way i still have my doubts about the patch on the arm but it seems the 20m gun on the Jamaran look like the gun on the picture

Nearly all the navies in the world operate the 20mm, it is for dealing with pirates, threats and warning shots, navy doesn't build like the ship will go in a massive naval warfare with the US, its real mission 90% of the time is to patrol and escort ships from pirates and other threats

Two or three shots of 20mm will easily damage a speedboat/pirate boat or sink it, you have all the assist in the sights

Then we should say what is the problem about this gun and why we need an unmanned version of it? (which we already have on IRGCN ships) For which target? Which threat that Iran would be facing? Just for "modernity" and design?

Britishs for example equip 30mm unmanned autocanon for specific reasons, dealing with swarms of speedboats for example, same for the US

Iran enemies aren't currently using speedboats as an offensive strategy, these canons are more than fine to deal with pirates

I already post video of us navy tried to deal with fast boat with manned 20mm and 12.5mm gun . it was hillarious.

and honestly what is the purpose of Moudge or Kaman class in Iranian navy? Dealing with smugglers or other navies
you think how many gun it can carry , don't you think the design with its limited fire power is better to be equipped with something that can be used against several different threat ?


about the warning , don't you think when dealing with other navies warship its better to use something that have less chance for mistake like a remote controlled 12.5mm gun ?

about dealing with pirates and smugglers on patrol boats do you believe we use ships or patrol boats ?

none and that's the point , Iranian ship also will have problem facing modern anti-ship missiles
but what for other missions? our problem is more having suitable gun to defend the ship th\an having radar to detect incoming missile

by the way ASR is 3d PESA , i'm not expert but i think comparing it to mr-800/mr-700 is like comparing it to Plessey AWS 1 on Alvand ships
