I remember a college conversation some time ago with a Mexican American, who was trying to be more Catholic than the Pope, and claimed to me that America never lost in Vietnam because America didnt lose any territory! He probably didnt know about South Vietnam.

Whats more fascinating is that the Vietnam war was based on the Domino theory, that if Vietnam fell to Communist, rest of the region would do the same. The theory was disproven but then decades later, it was back in play and cited as a rationale for Dubya's attack on Iraq, that if Iraq became a democracy, it would lead to entire region becoming democratic! Again proven wrong.

@Viet

Good day gentlemen. I remember the movies like "The Universal Soldiers" of people of my age time. We frequently used to read in news, movies/tv serials, "the US was buried in Vietnam." 🙂

We found in general talk of my age people, the entry of "The Universal Soldiers" from India - China and Russia/SU led that burial of US on the non-religious land of Vietnam 🕳️

It was well known as fight of non-religious humanity against the US and the related country, the Vietnam 👍

We still find The India - Russia/SU & China having full military presence on this land of non-religious humanity, the Vietnam, to maintain that lead 👍

The Battle of Hue
Landscape = Urban
Year = 1968
Outcome = American battlefield victory

Vietcong invaded then a South Vietnamese city Hue during Tet Offensive in 1968 but the US-led forces recaptured Hue after heavy fighting. This battle is regarded as among the most intense in urban warfare.

The Battle of Hue took place in the former Republic of South Vietnam and occurred from January 31 to March 2, 1968. Hue was bisected by the Perfume River (Hương, in Vietnamese), which flowed from southwest to northeast out to the South China Sea. On the immediate northwest riverbank of the river was Old Hue, which consisted of the three-square-mile, high-walled, diamond-shaped “Citadel” that included the Imperial Palace. New Hue was located on the southeast bank of the river. Hue was a city of cultural influence, religious importance, and architectural significance and as a result was deeply revered by generations of the Vietnamese people. The city had a population of 140,000 before the battle.
