Nice launcher design for the Fateh series. Seems generic and re-useable.

Pakistan surely cannot be that far from its own home grown SAM system now, right? ( he rolls eye hopefully) now that Pakistan has the NRTC AM-350S radar, and the Fateh rockets are all home-made so designing and making a SAM missile should be within Pakistan's reach from a manufacturing perspective, etc.

Wouldn't you need onboard avionics as well for that? Does Fatah series of missiles have that? (or at least of the reequired capability)

It will have to be a new missile from the ground up, I don't see them being able to reuse the same missile. Avionics as you say, as well as an onboard radar and associated powerpacks need to be accounted for as well as possible terminal phase boost rocket motor.

I was more referring to the current state of Pakistan's core R&D and design capabilities right now that should allow for that type of missile to be designed and built now. If they can reuse the same launcher, then there are economies of scale there, that is what I see in the launcher.

The remaining part of the puzzle would be the seeker head in a missile, and 'interception' algorithms both for the radar platform and the missile itself. Still puzzles to solve, but they are chipping away at them from what I can see.

Lots of interesting math on the core algorithms to work on(though not SAM specific below) :

Hi,

Why would you deny the number at time of war---?
Because then India will actually go buy some 600 countering systems since their pockets can afford it.
But in reality they know the real number.

"Fatah-I GMLRS

The Fatah-I was unveiled on January 7, 2021, by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) as the country’s first indigenously developed Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS). It marked a shift from conventional unguided artillery systems to precision-guided rockets, enabling the Pakistan Army to engage targets “deep in enemy territory” with high accuracy.

Technical Specifications

  • Type: Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS)
  • Range: 70–140 km
  • Accuracy: CEP ≤ 15 m
  • Warhead Type: Blast fragmentation
  • Rockets per Launcher: 8 rockets per MLV (Multiple Launch Vehicle)
  • Operating Temperature: -20°C to +55°C
The development of the Fatah-I likely originated from a Ministry of Defence Production (MoDP) program disclosed in 2015-16 to create an “extended-range” MLRS. While earlier systems like the A-100 MLRS (a Chinese-origin system locally produced under license) had a range of 100 km, the Fatah-I extended this capability to 140 km.

The Fatah-I employs GPS/INS guidance for precision targeting and can engage up to eight different targets within an 8×8 km area at maximum range."
