I think Iran saw that India kept buying heavily sanctioned Russia's oil and was hoping India would do same for them.
Another takeaway from this for Pakistanis is......need to expand your domestic economy and market so that foreigners desire access to it. All these Arabs/Iranians/West etc are only chasing India for the sake of cash.
Also this "ummah" stuff we were all taught in schools is throughly debunked and has never existed in entire Islamic history. Ummah-hood only exists at an individual level.

I believe its not entirely true. PAF has said itself that paf performed well in exercises with plaaf. I believe in some scenarios it failed and in some it did good.
Also it was swedish saab 2000 and french da 20 on ew side with pakistani modifications.
Also, pakistan has own homegrown systems for ew including cyber, jamming, comms and ofcourse c4isr.
Whether anyone agrees or not but china has money and Pakistan has war experience that matters. Including chinese new platform that are tested with help of pakistan to benchmark performance.
China with no real war experience requires a tester of its machine. Just like z10. Pakistan tested and returned with requests which will definitely make china understand weaknesses and make it more potent.
