Zohran Mamdani is running for Mayor of New York City. He operates in a fantasy world where economic consequences seem irrelevant. Having lived in New York City for two years, I can confidently say it’s an incredible place for business, a city full of opportunities and energy. If it were up to me, I would still be there. Unfortunately, my wife, a Portlander, did not share my enthusiasm for the city.
As I’ve repeatedly pointed out, right-wing media and politicians are strategically promoting Democratic Socialists, aiming to push the Democratic Party further to the left. Their ultimate goal? To brand Democrats as socialists and communists who will seize your hard-earned money and tax you into oblivion. On the other hand, these far-left socialists put forth enticing promises, free this, free that, endless government programs.
I consider myself a compassionate person and strongly believe in helping others. But the harsh reality is that we simply cannot afford these extravagant, unchecked programs. We are facing a fiscal crisis. Our national debt has soared to $37 trillion, and the only path forward is to reduce spending and increase revenue before this spirals even further out of control. Sensible financial management is crucial, not unrealistic utopian ideas that will only deepen the problem.
New York City’s GDP is estimated to be around $1.2 trillion, making it one of the largest urban economies in the world. The city serves as a global financial hub, home to Wall Street, major corporations, and thriving tech and creative industries. Mamdani lacks the capability to effectively lead, let alone govern a city of this scale, he can’t even manage one of its boroughs.
