Now taken over from 9 Sqd as most prestigous PAF unit I think
speaking of prestigous squadrons, where do you think the J-35 will go?

To me tier one reputation squadrons are:

no. 2: Legacy of RM
no. 5
no. 9:
no. 14: legendary tail choppers held off the entire IAF western air command in '71.
no. 15:

These are still front line but 2nd tier:
no. 7, 8, 11, 16, 17, 23

then there are the OCU squadrons: 18, 19, 20 and 22

Finally the newer ones yet to build a name for themselves: 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 50.

Seems like all the tier one squadrons have already received new assets in the last few years, maybe tail chopper assets will go to no. 17 and they will receive the first of J-35s.

I'm pretty certain the next to convert to J-10s will be no. 7.

Yes, as you point out

9, 5, 11 and 19 all with F-16s
15 with J-10CE.
8 and 16 with Block III

So yes, of the remaining legacy Sqds that are considered premier that leaves 14 (Block II) and 2 Sqd (Block II)

Other Sqds may well get the Block IIs from 8 and 16 who then may convert to J-35.

Very rare that the "New" Sqds (Those raised in the 50s after mass induction of Sabres, like Number 17, 18 and 19) get cutting edge stuff if you go by history of PAF. Was surprised 5 got the Block IIs and not the F-16 C/Ds when we got them as 5 never really considered "elite"

Nothing is unsecure by default setting and there is no override. Ask the PAF F-16 operators, it is the same case. Aurangzeb was bluffing and playing Lollywood stuff. This is PAF's professionalism!
Nothing is unsecure? Your a/c have radios and you have the option to talk over secure or unsecure channels. Otherwise how do military aircrafts talk to civil aircrafts and other civil controllers?

China provides Pakistan with advanced J-35A fighters

Janes Magazine has confirmed that Pakistan is in the process of receiving the advanced Chinese J-35A ghost fighters, an export version of the FC-31 plane, and it is expected that deliveries will start within a few months.

A high -ranking Pakistani government official told the magazine that the Pakistani Air Force (PAF) will be among the first international operators of the Chinese Fifth Generation of the Chinese combat plane. The official added: "The planes will start to arrive within months," stressing that two pilots from the Pakistani Air Force are currently undergoing training in China to drive J-35A aircraft. No details related to the number of aircraft or the conditions of the deal have not been revealed.

The J-35A fighter, which was developed by the Chinyang Aircraft Industry Company, is a qualitative leap in the technology of concealment and combat capabilities of the Pakistani Air Force. Thanks to its ghost features, advanced sensors, and multi-task capabilities, J-35A was designed to carry out a wide range of operations while maintaining its ability to hide enemy radars.

According to Janes Defence News, this acquisition is a pivotal progress in the Pakistani Air Force strategy, which puts it within a few countries in the world that occupy the fifth generation fighters. This deal is strengthened by the strategic defense partnership between Pakistan and China, especially in the field of military aviation for the next generation. As the regional air force is heading towards the fifth generation platforms, the J-35A entry in the Pakistani Air Force is expected to provide a decisive advantage in future air fighting scenarios.

Pakistan confirms its acquisition of 40 J-35A ghost planes from China: Training pilots is underway, and the first plane is expected to arrive in August 2025

The Pakistani government reported on social media that, along with the J-35A deal, it also got an early warning and control plane KJ-500, and the air defense system HQ-19 ballistic missiles.

Officials in the Pakistani defense sector indicated that the training of pilots is currently underway in China, and the delivery of the first aircraft is scheduled to start in August 2025.

"The Aircraft will start arriving in the next few months," said a senior Pakistani official.

Pakistani defense sources expressed their confidence in the Chinese aviation industry and the superiority of its products, citing the last performance of the J-10Ce fighter during the war between India and Pakistan last May.

Why is this plane being rushed to Pakistan ? Is there a critical gap that was found in the recent war and only this plane can fill it ?

Next war is coming. This time we want more then 6-0 I guess....
All I can think of is maybe the hope is that the stealth J35 provides enough deterrent that India doesnt attempt anything. Otherwise with the success of the J10 , I would have thought we would go for more of that plane alongwith JF17's.

Why? Why would we go for 4.5th Gen more when our main ally is offering 5th Gen, and we can have more of an ovewhelming advatge!?

Very expensive to buy and makes the now huge and mixed fleet in the PAF difficult and expensive to maintain ? J10 has proven superior to best in the IAF.
