Israel first destroyed Iran’s air defense systems before carrying out its strikes. In contrast, Indian Air Force did not take out Pakistan’s air defenses on the first day of Operation Sindoor, when it targeted certain mosques and madrassas. However, on May 9th and 10th, India successfully neutralized key Pakistani air defense systems and subsequently conducted bombing raids on Pakistani airbases with complete impunity. Although India may have lost 2-3 jets on first day of Operation Sindoor, it gained a crucial strategic lesson: to ensure air superiority and freedom of operation inside Pakistani airspace, it must first eliminate air defense systems—just as the Israeli Air Force does during its operations in Iran.
Also, Israeli Air Force operates F-35, a stealth fighter jet that is difficult to detect by AWACS or ground-based radar systems—a capability that India urgently needs to develop independently.
