shahadat is an integral part of Islam.
winning wars with tactics is the job of generals not preachers.
You are right. It's an integral part of Islam, but what we have is people mindlessly rushing to attain a status with no work and planning.
The generals rely on martyrdom with a twist, but have no strategy or tactics, relying on pump and dumb jazba.
I'm sorry, but it's a fact that this will be a bitter pill to swallow for many. As Gen. Patton said, "The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his."
A little story: During one of the battles in Islam's early history between Medina and Badr, one of the Prophet's companions wanted to show bravery while fighting and attain his status; his jazba was high, and he was willing to jump on the enemy's sword and attain his status. The prophet was aware of this and stopped him, saying this is akin to suicide and not permissible.
What @MastanKhan is saying is that preachers sold the people a false vision, a reality that was not real. While I have my disagreements with him on many issues, Chacha is on the mark with his post.
