The economic impact of trade with the U.S. on China is nowhere near as high as you might think. China has actually been able to cut off all trade ties with the US at any time.Do you actually think Asean can absorb all of Chinese goods and components? China too also depends on the US market. And let's not forget, Thailand is on that list too, not far behind Vietnam in terms of exposure.
The Chinese government has been making preparations to decouple from the last decade, and the Chinese government has been very efficient.
As for the US market, if the dollar can't buy Chinese goods, Russian and other minerals, Brazilian grain, Saudi Arabian oil, then isn't the dollar a waste of paper?
You see, the dollar can no longer buy rare earths. Antimony is next, then gallium and germanium, and magnesium and indium, and eventually it will be tungsten ore that will complete the extinction.
And the unique products of the United States, we shall eventually replace them all. All that's left now are high-end chips and large commercial airliners. We're efficient, and it'll be quick.
