I think you got it backward.

Zion obviously doesn't want one and they don't need one. It's the US due to its international standing that has forced both countries onto the ceasefire.

At the end of the day, it was Iran's foreign minister who repeatedly said that Iran will agree to the ceasefire if Zion stops the attacks. Zion on the other hand took a fair bit persuading.

Look, Zion's air defence systems, radars, missile systems, nuclear sites, etc. haven't been attacked except a handful. Iran wasn't able to impose a no fly zone over the skies of Zion.

Iran Initiallt fired many missiles, however once the Iron Dome fell their number dropped as Iran focused only on key targets along using both missiles and drones. There was no need for overwhelming missile assaults.

Iron Dome cannot intercept BMs. It was made for cheap rockets and artillery by Hamas and HZ.

Why people keep saying Iron Dome everywhere when it’s not a defense against ballistic missiles. That job goes to Arrrow 2/3, David’s Sling, PAC, and THAAD

It just requires an additional assembly line to be setup, the plan was to have 50/year but that was cut back down to lack of orders, etc. Iran needs to work out what a modern air force looks like before purchasing. Iran is geographically a big country, so a platform like the J10CE may be more useful for them than the JF17C which is more short legged. The J-35AE is also of critical importance for them because with the stealth jets, Iran can roam Iraq and Syria and take out the air to air refuellers themselves directly which means that the IAF cannot operate over Iran at all. Iran will need area defence of high value areas, so there is a role for the JF17C if that is the direction that they want to go.

Su-35 may still have value for Iran due to its long range, but the Su57 would be better. However, I suspect Iran has finally worked out that Russia will not work to give Iran any military advantage over Israel due to "so many Russian speakers in Israel now"..

Interms of politics, and optics, it would be far better for FC1 to come from China, than Pakistan as Pakistan can be pressured to stop supplies. China cant as easily.

China have its own interests as well, so does Pakistan. I believe it would be best for Iran if it have 5 squadrons of JF-17 block 3, and 5 squadrons of J-10c. Total 160-180 planes. And in edition, maybe 2 squadrons of J-35.

Iran should not buy only J-10c or only JF-17 III. Just my opinion.

Also, the low range of JF-17 III (still 800 km) can be complemented by Ariel refuelers and drop tanks. And to be frank, Iran don't need it's fighters to go after Israeli refuelers (because we saw in this conflict, they had 40+ refuelers at their disposal). No matter how many refuelers Iran destroy, they will still have sufficient. So it's okay to have a fighter jet which is capable of BVR, can give a good punch and reduce the weapons load of enemy fighters (Israeli fighters were not carrying BVRs while attacking Iran because they were not expecting any reaction. Only drop load of bombs. But if they have to plan for Iranian aiforce fleet as well. This would mean they will carry BVRs + WVRs + bombs. So less bombs per sortie. JF-17 even there, achieved 30-40% of its objectives.

So what is next?

According to non proliferation expert Jeffrey Lewis Iran still has 408kg of HEU and IR-6 centrifuges and it will take Iran 5 month to build 9 nuclear bombs by enriching in secret locations.


Iran reduced its relations with the IAEA and now no one can monitor Iranian nuclear program.

Iran should make a rush to the bomb.

US options:

1) attack suspected secret locations - but US doesn't know where they are and Iran will respond by attacking US military bases in the region and this will escalate into a full-scale war US wants to avoid, and if Iran starts losing the war, it will switch to striking first Kuwaiti, then Qatari, then UAE and then Saudi oil facilities and closing the Strait of Hormuz. Also new US attacks against suspected secret enrichment facilities will be ineffective, because US has no intelligence on these facilities and these facilities are located deep underground.

2) attack Iran's military infrastructure - but it is unclear how this will prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and if US attacks Iran's military then Iran will strike US bases in the region and this will escalate into a full-scale war, and if Iran starts losing, it will strike Gulf oil facilities and close the Strait of Hormuz.

3) attack Iranian leaders - but if US kills Khamenei, Iran's reaction will be disproportionate and the entire region will be in flames and oil infrastructure will be destroyed.

4) attack suspected secret enrichment facilities + attack Iran's military infrastructure + attack Iranian leaders = full scale war with Houthis closing the Red Sea, Hezbollah attacking Israel, Shia militias of Iraq attacking US bases in Iraq and Kuwait and Iran attacking US bases in the Gulf, oil infrastructure of the region and closing the Strait of Hormuz.

5) use nuclear weapons against Iran - but if US breaks the taboo and uses nuclear weapons against non nuclear power like Iran, this will destroy entire global security architecture, and other non-nuclear powers like Brazil or Argentina for example, will seek to obtain nuclear weapons to protect themselves. Also Russia will then have a right to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine and China in Taiwan.

So as you can see, beyond cosmetic strikes, US has no any good options of preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. All serious US actions against Iran end with a global oil crisis that will create enormous damage to global economy in general and US economy in particular, because if oil of the Gulf is offline US economy will be rolled back by 5 years and federal debt will increase by 4trln$.

So either get it or just totally give up everything remotely linked to the nuclear program, even if its peaceful.

Well, that is a decision for the Iranian leadership to make, whether to continue with its past policies in this regard, or plot out a new direction. Both option have pros and cons, of course.

Continuing past policies will invite similar counters to the efforts which have been quite destructive. Plotting a new direction will involve a huge political gamble of acknowledging that past policies have been disastrous in their outcomes.

Not an easy choice to make IMO.
