Pakistan Air Force | News & Discussions

A Foreign TV channel was doing a debate on the India/Pakistan clash, the guest obviously some expert on aerial warfare was arguing that while the French have used their Rafales successfully in places like Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya but as soon as these aircraft faced real combat they were systematically shot down .
In hindsight Americans were both surprised and happy as obviously Rafale sales were hurting them .
Overhyped marketing efforts have ruined the perspective of normie observers. You can hardly be certain in an aircraft's superiority solely by citing it's experience in bombing unarmed people.

The only capability test worth caring about is against a near-peer adversary.

I think it also dawned on Americans that PAF scored all the kills without the benefits of F-16s or AMRAAMS.
Hi,

A couple of decades ago on the old forum---I wrote a comment from a famous air combat fiction writer which went something like this---" the day has come that if you have a powerful engine to mount on a BRICK and add sophisticated technology to it---it will take out the most sleek and aerodynamic aircraft out---".

There is an aura attached with achieving one of the most sophisticated long-range kills in modern aerial combat against a peer adversary. It's not something the USAF can ignore.
Also “See? It’s not like we’re dying to get your V/SLEP upgrade, We can and have the resources to do even better from what we have than what you’ve to offer, so just give it and get money or lose the opportunity as well as lost benefit of appeasing India”.

We have a really good opportunity at hand to upgrade all of our F-16s. The slowdown of Block 3 production gives me vibes that the PAF despite having the freedom to use certain advanced munitions/avionics on Thunders, Realizes the fact that nothing beats medium weight fighters.

Upgrading our F-16s while also raising another squadron of J-10Cs would make PAF even more lethal. Only fools would mess with us.

While agreeing to this statement, I would also add that the fact that PAF didn’t intend to pursue further blocks post BLK 3 (or was it always on the cards?) and yet they’re moving towards PFX (an upgrade further with rumored structural changes) kinda gives vibes that the PAF despite achieving success with Thunders still feels that its not what it should be at this moment of time.

I was under the impression that we would’ve gone for 100+ block 3s but the production slowdown really makes things especially when we still have PGs flying around.

Hi,

The current size of the thunder is a size too small---.

It serves its purpose well beyond expectations---the next level the pfx is a naturak progression of the design---like from F18 to an FA18---Gripne to Gripen NG etc

I hope so.

Agreed and I bet relevant people in US are at their whits end to understand how PAF did what it did. They don’t want the same humiliating fate as the IAF if they ever have to face the PLAAF. I hope & trust PAF will be careful in what it discloses for its own sake and for due loyalty to China.

Hello sir,

Multiple ejection racks in multiple hard points for pl15 and pl12, better engine in pfx InshaAllah. I dont think irst is must.

V upgrades will only come for a price. May be Pakistan joining so-called Abrahamic Accord along with KSA or Pakistan agreeing not getting too close to China which is now impossible as both Pak-China and US-India strategic partnerships have crossed many milestones now and reversal of these is not possible for any party involved. To me, the visit was an invitation just to tell CAS not get into a strategic partnership with Iran like we have with Turkiye in the region as this will directly challenge Israel's aerial hegemony in the region. Iran is now obviously going to get serious about building an air force (mainly consisting on Chinese platforms like J-10Cs and J-35As) to defend its own air space so that its missile arsenal can perform even better. I don't see any other strategic need of the US right now to do something it hasn't done over a decade now i.e. inviting PAF chief to the US!

Pakistan's policy is 2 state solution for Palestine , we don't need F16V carrot stick

If 2 states exist and they respect each other , we don't have issue to have normal ties it is a Principle Pakistan has for long time in accordance with OIC resolutions.

Issue is Genocide in Palestine

If Two state solution is rolled out , including protection of Palestinians I am sure we can work with various countries in region for a workable ties

Well in past such visits have resulted in
  • Promises of Super Cobra helicopters (Never came)
  • F16 Upgrades (came but older C/D model)
  • Engines for Turkish helicopter (Never came)
  • 4 OHP were promised only 1 came
  • We bought those F16 in 1980's (never delivered )
  • We begged/asked for Awacs in 1980 (never delivered us 1 )

Turkey , invested billions in F35
  • Never delivered

USA invited COAS initially
Then invited PAF head of Airforce

Only they would know what was discussed
