Phoenix was never used in GW1 AFAIK.
Sparrows and Sidewinders were the ones doing the killing and perhaps one odd AIM-120A.

The Iranians used Phoenix against Iraq to good effect.

The book referred to is “Every man a tiger” by general Horner I believe.

IS there any data to suggest the wing area and profile has changed from Block 1 to 3 ?
I remember the block 1 had a notorious landing characteristics, what does it look like now ?

Makes a lot of sense as a 3P variant. A 250km AESA radar is damn impressive if they can pull that off ?! I am surprised at that range.

Radar Horizon Formula

To estimate the radar horizon distance D in nautical miles (NM):

D = 1.23 \times \sqrt{h}

Where:

  • h = height of the radar antenna in feet

If both the radar and the target are elevated, the combined radar horizon is:

D = 1.23 \times (\sqrt{h_1} + \sqrt{h_2})

Where:

  • h_1 = radar height
  • h_2 = target height

For example, a radar at 100 feet elevation can detect a target at sea level up to ~12.3 NM away.

Block -1 flew fine - the planform is pretty stable and the larger gear spacing makes it an easier landing aircraft than F-16.

I don’t believe there is a change in planform but a change in composition and structure for the wing roots.

So just to be clear
*Another squadron of J10Cs coming
*MLU upgrade of JF17 block 2s with AESA radar (is that all block 2s or some block 2s, does it include block 1s that were already upgraded to block 2 standard?)
*Indiginisation of JF17 Block 3P as part of PFX program
*J35 coming

Timeline next 3 years

He hasn’t said anything new. All of this already mentioned in this forum:

Let me see what I can find out about it.

The initial variants had rather uncivilized landing characteristics,
leading to structural issue in the fuselage.

I can see it is fixed now, I am interested to understand what solution(s) were employed.

The other person who can help us, is our friend from austria. Wonder if she is here ?

@Oscar what is the reason more BLK IIIs aren't coming out for PAF?

PAC imported 1 x unit of WS-21 powerplant.:unsure:

They will start the war with drones, loitering munitions, ALBMs(lora and rampage), scalps and brahmos strikes.

An overwhelming attack on all major bases and from sea. They know they don't have ab advantage over PAF, so they will hit AD and airbases first.

That is why before the next round begings we need to move assets to makeshifts airfioeds on motorways and plan accordingly.

Losing a significant portion of our air assets (jets or bases) is one of the redlines to go crazy
