No, we will not plant more cotton. not plant more rice, nor make more shoes. at some point this strategy of more production will reach the dead end. more service, more properties may be the way out. if anything in agraculture Vietnam does value added by producting the same amount of. look at Vietnam´s coffee export. we export in 2025 almost the same amount in 2021, but this year the dollar export earnings will increase from $3 billion to $10 billion.1. If products containing 1% of Chinese products are considered transshipment, you Vietnamese people should plant cotton all over the country;
2. The 40% transshipment tariff does not only apply to China. It also applies to non-Vietnamese high-tech companies in Vietnam. For example: Samsung. Trump has repeatedly asked Samsung mobile phones to be produced in the United States, otherwise they will be subject to a 25% tariff (public information can be checked). So, will Trump give a 20% tariff on Samsung mobile phones produced in Vietnam? There is no doubt that it will be handled at 40% in order to force Samsung to move its factory to the United States. Non-Vietnamese high-tech companies in Vietnam will face this fate.
3. In Trump's definition, he will require all high-tech and high-value-added processing industries to move to the United States, on the one hand to improve the soundness of the US industry, and on the other hand to increase the employment rate of American workers. Tariffs are just a means.
4. So. What are you Vietnamese happy about? Trump may tell you during the negotiations not to worry, this is only about China. But in actual operation, 40% will generally apply to all non-Vietnamese high-tech companies in Vietnam. Do you really think this is aimed at the Chinese?
5. If, after a year or less, Trump finds that the trade deficit between Vietnam and the United States has not been reduced or his industrial transfer goals have not been achieved, he will tear up the agreement reached with Vietnam and re-impose tariffs on Vietnam.
We'll see. Poor silly kid.
Looks like the Chinese client states in south east Asia are getting hit with much higher tariffs than Vietnam
Since when are Japan and South Korea are in South East Asia ? In any case, they will make deals before Aug 1.Japan and South Korea are client states of China ? Then who are allies of USA in south china sea ?
the koreans are angry. very angry. they complain they are US security ally but pay more tarifs than Vietnam. the MAGA spent more time in negotiating trade deal with Vietnam than them. Trump treats Koreans and Japanese much like stray dogs. but worse may come, Trump wants to add more sectorial tariffs on Korea and Japan. by then good luck to Korea, Japan industry, manufactoring sectors. So much for treating your allies with respect lol
You are wrong. China's largest vassal state is the United States. Otherwise, why is the United States struggling so eagerly to get rid of the Chinese supply chain? America’s tariff war is more like a war of economic independence.Since when are Japan and South Korea are in South East Asia ? In any case, they will make deals before Aug 1.
The Chinese client states in SE Asia are the likes of Myanmaar, Laos, Cambodia, etc.
American character ? Did some prominent American say "To be enemy of US is dangerous, but to be friend of US is fatal".I can't for the life of me figure out why Trump is going about humiliating America's allies? What good does that do?

So Europeans are prepared to be sons of Americans, not friends?American character ? Did some prominent American say "To be enemy of US is dangerous, but to be friend of US is fatal".
I guess other country is best to have as little entangled with America as possible, get away from its evil eagle claws. So Europeans are prepared to be sons of Americans, not friends?
Trump does treat his son well though, unlike Musk. Can't even protect his own son's dick.
Since when are Japan and South Korea are in South East Asia ? In any case, they will make deals before Aug 1.

Any publicity is good publicity even the very bad ones. This why China doesn't care that West mainstream media constantly demonize China. They only making China stronger by giving her free publicity. You have misjudged Trump's purpose. This group of people wants to rebuild the US industrial chain. The whole US is very anxious about this. They are not soft on Japan and South Korea either.
Targeting China is just an excuse. You should know that 25% of the products in the US military-industrial system are provided by Japan and South Korea. Trump's tariff war, regardless of the enemy or ourselves, as long as there is a trade deficit, he will fight. Didn't NATO also pay first and increase defense spending to 5%.
The only thing this person cares about is the US itself
If you had read what I wrote you wouldn't be asking this question. I had said "Chinese client states in south east Asia".East Asia. My bad. But doesn't change the original question. On a thread related to Japan and South Korea signing deals with USA , you saying soon all these client states of China will fall in line. So I just ask, do you consider Japan and South Korea to be client states of China ?
Thanks for the info. The American media lie so much.Given that you MAGA's live in the information cocoon constituted by FOX and other media outlets, I'll kindly tell you that the day before yesterday the Vietnamese government denied that it had reached a trade deal with Trump. A Vietnamese government statement said that Vietnam and the United States have only tentatively finalized the framework for negotiations and are still far from reaching an agreement. U.S. Full of lies, the credit of the US government is now worse than the Indians.

Trump hasn't accomplished a single trade deal so far, except for a temporary truce with China. Even America's allies, the EU, Japan, South Korea, India, etc. have rejected America's trade deals.
I can't for the life of me figure out why Trump is going about humiliating America's allies? What good does that do?
