Egypt requested from Russia the Sula long-range ESA radar.. Detecting stealth aircraft from a range of 1,500 km
Egypt requested a radar to monitor nuclear launches and detect stealth targets from ranges of up to 1,500 km.
The Russian Avia Pro website published news stating that Egypt is interested in obtaining the Russian long-range space monitoring radar Sula. The radar has a range of up to 6,000 km, operates in the S-Band space, and detects space targets at high altitudes.
The radar can monitor a target with a radar cross-section of 0.01 square meters from a range of 1,500 km, a target with a radar cross-section of 1 square meter from a range of 4,500 km, and a target with a radar cross-section of 5 square meters from a range of 6,000 km.
The radar can track and detect satellites, space debris and other targets in orbit.
The radar consists of an antenna, a cooling unit, communications and data transmission facilities, an engineering complex, a continuous power supply, a fire station, a weather monitoring station, and a repair and training base.
The radar station has a modular diagonal architectural principle, which allows it to be deployed in a short time on the ground or on the territory of a military unit. Experts believe that Sula is capable of effectively tracking space debris, satellites and ballistic missile warheads.
