JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

That is a GORGEOUS Phantom !! The Phantom is a proper muscle-plane back from the day! Sat inside a Turkish one at RIAT, gorgeous plane.
I always wanted to see the Phantom in PAF service, would have been an awesome strike fighter with it's heavy payload, and still relevant to this day given what the Turks have done to theirs.

Please educate yourself, your post is wrong on many issues, therefore I don't want to correct it as it will be an off-topic discussion.

Pakistan obviously does not have industrial manufacturing scale which could match with big Industrial countries but we do have certain capabilities and scale enough to meet local requirements to certain extent.

Please use Google for the questions you asked about explosive, gun barrel, rubber tires etc.
I'm sorry, I didn't explain this question clearly.

China has been competing with Western countries for a long time. In the early stages of China's industry, we were often "choked" by Western countries. A very small component, some extremely small amount of raw materials... any extremely small link will cause us huge losses. Based on this environment, we do a lot of things that are different from other countries.

In this environment, what we refer to as fully localized industry means that from the natural products of nature (the original materials are allowed to be imported) to the final finished product, all are completed in the country. For example, the refining of trace additives required for processing special steel... This is different from the definition of other countries. (There is a more detailed explanation in Chinese, but it is not the focus here.)

I don't think Pakistan needs to follow this standard.

In fact, I think Pakistan's current defense industry is too fragmented, and the localization depth of each sector is not enough. Pakistan should choose one of them according to its actual situation and make in-depth investment. All localizations throughout the project.

PAF should come up with JFT Bravo Block 3 (Block 3 dual seat variant) ..

It will give export boost to JTFs ..

Plus local capabilities enhancement as well ....

Bravo Block 2 was used against india specially to distroy S400...

So Block 3 based bravo will have much more capabilities and effectiveness ... In future and more advance mission can be achieved
A dual seater JF-17 based on the F-16 XL... Hazaron khuaishain aisee k har khuaish pei dum niklae... Perfect compliment to the existing fleet and much better spare part logistics when the Mirages retire...

The JF-17 bound for RIAT is not only going to have kill markings but special livery. Saw a post on X with a livery that was rejected ( I'll post if I see it again ).
The C-130 will also be part of the contest not only carrying personnel.

As per O.P his design was rejected and something even better was chosen..

I do agree with you but the issue we face is that we don't have planners within the system that think about long term goals.

For optics and PR you'll only see a focus on short to medium term projects around here.

It'll take another decade and a half if Pakistan decides to industrialize today

Colors of shaheen foundation

3-4 days to go before we find out, as they will arrive at RIAT on Thursday I reckon and the arrivals to RIAT are always filmed by people on the carpark that overlooks the runway.

We may find out the colour scheme, but i suspect we wont be able to see any kill marks, if indeed there are any of course.

F16 XL is it self failed concept... Only life span of prototype .

Its was almost new frame from conventional F16s

JF17 on this lien mean totally new jet design .. with no specific outcome.

instead we have J10 for concord design , we can increase its numbers .. much practical solution

The F16 XL failed not because of the design, but because of better economics for going with the F15E to fulfill the USAF's strike fighter requirements. The F16 XL was quite an impressive design and performance.

F15 was selected for Carrier fleet twin engine allow it to fly from Aircraft carrier

F16 generally was better suited for close home, defensive posture

F18 Got funding because it was Bomb Truck , a role which F16 could not do

The Single Engine F16 would not do great over sea , due to risk of Engine failure at sea , the F15 can still fly on 1 engine and survive at sea, which F16 could do limited missions oversea but F15 was preferred for long term need

JF17 Thunder , V-SHAPE wing would still work for Pakistan because our focus is more "Home base" air defence. The plane would have more manoeuvrability
May be even enhanced ability to carry more missiles

However one can also debate that the V-Shape is already present in J10C , so just go with more purchases of J10C

Errm, no, the F15 was never selected for carrier operations!
