Pakistan Air Force | News & Discussions

It’s a very good move by China. Pakistan’s Army institution is greatly influenced by the west and China must take measures to protect its sensitive technology.
It makes sense since it's highly competitive military technology, but one of the main selling points of Chinese aircraft has been flexibility in operations, if they try the embargo or control stuff like the US did, this is going to push Pakistan away to try and get closer partnerships with Turkey & indigenisation I guess.

China Requests US-Style Regulation for Pakistan’s J-35A Stealth Fighters

China’s proposed significant agreement to provide Pakistan with advanced J-35A stealth jets has encountered an unforeseen obstacle. Beijing has requested surveillance protocols from Islamabad. The US has imposed similar protocols on Pakistan’s F-16 fleet. China’s request stems from significant concerns over espionage. This crucial mandate seeks to avert the transfer of sensitive stealth technology to American entities.

In June 2025, Indian OSINT reports indicated that Pakistan might procure 40 J-35A fifth-generation stealth fighters, along with advanced KJ-500 airborne early warning and control systems (AWACS) and sophisticated HQ-19 air defense systems. At first, the agreement seemed advantageous, especially given reports of an appealing nearly 50% discount, which estimated the total value at around $54.6 billion. Deliveries are anticipated to commence as early as August 2025. However, China’s insistence on rigorous oversight has impeded progress.

Seems fair to me. If Pakistan is happy for USA to do this for f16s then J35 are even more sophisticated and valuable…..

Yes, China would be stupid not to insist on such measures, especially now we still have Americans walking around Jacaobad and Sarghoda air bases

If this news is true... Then most probably china want to keep J35A deployment limited to air Base's where only Chinese jet and other equipment will deployed (no American stuff) .. plus Chinese stuff for observation..

Most probably this condition was added after Pakistan higher military and air force officials back to back visits to USA after India Pakistan may conflict..

China realized that Pakistan arm forces specially PAF still have interest in American equipments and this connection can be dangerous for there tech confidentiality ...

They definitely don't want PAF to restrict use of J35a jets ... (As American restricted us) .. they only want the technology to be secured from Americans hands

SPECTRA and all that stuff was over-hyped. When you work more on the marketing then the actual product.
Frenchie's returned the favor to Indian smart assery by promising 126 and then only going for 36, doing "Hard" negotiations for three years and showing the attitude during that time.

They fully trust Pakistan and know that their technology is safe in Pakistan's hands, that is why they even share the tech that they use themselves.

We have been visited uncle sam for like eternity yet china provides best system. Our visits are fruits of indo pak skirmishes we won.

Having uncle sam on oir good side is good for overall prosperity. Even if you dont want there systems anymore.

For example, pakistan airforce has had lots of exp doing exercises in red flag or other american military excercises.

Air Marshal retd Arshad Malik's new interview
Some highlights
> He says that he was posted in china when J-20 became operational and they requested for J-20 and some of our people were allowed to check it out then, but the Chinese took a policy decision to not export J-20 and instead offered an alternative in form of J-35 and PAF has been involved in the project since then and we sent a team of engineers and pilots to evaluate it.

> PAF is definitely buying J-35 but we are waiting for it to mature which he says is 'around the corner' according to him PAF wants a finished product and dont want to modify it later as that will further delay the induction.

> PAF is buying second batch of J-10CE that will come before J-35As.

> PAF is pursuing upgradation of F-16s to latest block to make them equal to the Rafale.

> He says that In the next battle we should be able to deploy unmanned assets with same efficiency with which we deployed the manned ones these UAVs should be numerous so the can easily replace each other,he said that PAF is going towards stealth UCAVs

> PAF has drawn few lessons from the skirmish, few drones managed to get through according to him PAF started the focus on air defence relatively recently and the air defence is a relatively new system which caused some limitations in its employment. After debriefs, for future PAF is focusing on 4 things:
1: specialized anti UAV systems like CIWS,laser based(DEWs?) and EW systems to break the drones datalink.
2: increasing and upgrading the ground based sensors.
3: going one step further in airborne EW.
4: he also said that we are going 2 steps further from HQ-9, didn't disclose any details later when being asked about hq-19 and KJ-500 he said InshaAllah.
