Trump Announces Major Pakistan Trade Deal, Vows Joint Oil Development/Exploration

Lets hope Indians are able to make some low cost compromises somewhere and pull down the tariff to 20%.

Regards
India is targetting a 10-15% rate. Not sure if it will be possible , but India is not going to make any concessions for a 20% rate .

Electronics exports? Since when you start manufacturing chips? I have been living in UK majority of my adult life, and only "made in India" is either in local asian grocery shop or random garments. Thats about it.
India is the biggest exporter of smartphones to the US. The chips are obviously imported.

Ah, the old "Is going to"

Sounds like Tejas delivery timelines.

Maybe wait and see and keep quiet till it is done, else you seem like a monkey jumping up and down making noise as you slowly lose market share....

@Yasser76

We can really eat into BD Textile exports now, they have been doing very well on this front

BD's textile competitiveness is based on very cheap labour and mainly women employees running into millions. Presumably Pak society will be willing to let millions of women outside homes for a very low wage?

Regards

19% seems high. Still major agri and textile exports will be 6% cheaper then Indias to US market, nothing to be sneezed at and can give some of our companies a good head start
Tariff is the new tool of hegemony. Every % counts here. I am pretty sure the Pak Deep State doesn't exactly rely on the trade with the USA to generate its revenue for the all "excursions" it does.....

Want to stick to the subject in hand, if you want debates about inclusive societies that glass house you live in will get smashed in seconds

I have no problem with that.

Slightly dated and off topic:

Extract from :
The Middle East Institute, June 4 2025

"Pakistan has entered into a high-stakes cryptocurrency agreement with World Liberty Financial (WLF), a cryptocurrency firm backed by the Trump family. At a recent high-profile cryptocurrency conference in Las Vegas, attended by US Vice President JD Vance and President Trump’s sons, Pakistan’s minister for crypto and blockchain made a compelling pitch to crypto and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure developers. He invited them to invest in Pakistan, highlighting the country’s competitive advantages in low-cost, high-yield bitcoin mining and the establishment of AI data centers. These initiatives further complement Pakistan’s recent decision to offer concessions to encourage US companies to invest in its untapped rare earth mineral reserves, demonstrating its willingness to deepen cooperation between the two countries — an effort that has garnered significant interest from the Trump administration"

No deal with US will hurt India much much more then the US
In terms of pure economics statistics as of today, India will definitely lose more, but the US will also lose a substantial amount - far far more than it would gain from the Pakistan deal.

In any case, I believe a deal will happen, if not by the deadline next week , then vy the time Trump visits for the quad summit. These are typical Trump negotiating tactics.

In the worst case, it is probably at most percentage point hit in GDP for India. Not great, but it can be absorbed and India would still likely be the fastest growing major economy in the world.

I see. We dont have any such in UK, perhaps in EU.

So what you are referring to is basically "assembling" Apple phones and back to US.

Keep an eye on this though. Orange man is not happy about this.

@Baibers_1260

to encourage US companies to invest in its untapped rare earth mineral reserves,

A serious question to you since you come across as a well-read person unlike most of the PDF membership (from both sides of the border). Do you really believe that PAK is sitting on USD 8 TN worth of minerals, including rare earths?

Regards

There is no disappointment at all. I hope I explained properly. Greatest economic journey just started for Pakistan. America, China and Russia are going to be our partners in this journey to $1 trillion and then $2 trillion economy.

Pakistan is now the only country with good, trusting relations with all 3 great powers. They listen to us and respect what we say. No other country can say that.

Sadly, a country that could also benefit mutually, sharing borders with us, is still in a delusional "big country myth".

For sake of Pakistan I hope your right

@clutch mian,

F Isreal and those who support it.

You know that DJT is a big supporter of ZIOs?

I suggest you Google "Yaqub Shah minerals LinkedIn"

He is a seasoned geologist whose articles will explain what minerals exist in Pakistan
