We have always liked Pakistan, but if your words represent all of Pakistan, you better pray that the next India-Pakistan conflict will not lead the U.S. to abandon Pakistan. I am even more skeptical that without the China-Pakistan relationship, the U.S. would instigate an India-Pakistan conflict. IMO the greatest concern for Bharat isn't Pak's earning a billion bucks here and there. It's the Pak's becoming a vital pivot for the US power projection in the 21st century: be it minerals, shale hydrocarbons, connectivity with the CA or something else. It implies all the geostrategic complex equations, crafted over 45 years, are producing negative results for them.....

The Americans were forced by India to supress the natural relations that historically existed between the USA and Pakistan, as a price for India getting involved in a "anti-China" alliance. Given that the Americans now see that India has been "faking" it as far as the anti-China alliance goes and is not militarily capable to resist China, the USA does feed duty bound to continue to "actively" supress its Pakistan relationship or continue to look to undermine Pakistan's economic interests globally anymore.

This is a natural reset to the historical norm, not a new 'higher' level of relationship. ie the old historical norm has become the new norm.
