That seems to be the motto. Do nothing, win.

I would also agree.I rate them if they stand by Russia through all this.
I can't disagree with much, it's a good post, however India will get accused of perfidy in the same way Pakistan wasUS and Indian relations weren’t at this level just 2 decades back. The change happened Jaswant Singh was our EAM under Vajpayee.
Till then Delhi used to be against US and had taken many principled positions that didn’t allow relations to prosper. There is historical background to that and 1971 was one of the big ones.
It was under Jaswant that India decided to manoeuvre the Indian policies so as to make them dynamic to weigh in what is good for us ans what is not.
Multiple US administrations and Presidents too worked to make it deeper. India ended up buying more military equipment from US than any non-NATO ally.
Were these steps taken by blindsiding the other side? NO.
Both sides moved forward after weighing in all the angles.
But, few kids here are trying to infer that India blindsided the US. Indo-Russian relations were always known very well to everyone.
Whatever, India does is in the open domain. It has clearly stated the reasons for what it does with nations.
India bought Russian oil. At that time the Europeans were buying more energy from Russia than anyone else, but they were pointing fingers at others. India openly showed the mirror to them and they backed off. Gradually they have moved away but not yet completely.
Modi is no Imran Khan who announces his US policies on media by making bombastic statements. Much more happens behind the limelight.
That is what India is doing. It has drawn the red lines that it wouldn’t cross. Russian friendship appears to one of those.
If that means taking on Trump then it is for Trump to decide.
Yes, we know how the SEATO and CENTO membership helped Pakistan in the defence of Dhaka, how Pakistan was treated by Clinton after the Mujahidin drove the Soviets out of Afghanistan, how Bush threatened to bomb Pakistan back into the Stone Age, how Raymond Davies murdered Pakistanis in cold blood and got away after paying blood money, how Pakistan handed over Afia Siddique to the Americans, how Navy Seals violated Pakistani airspace, killed OBL in the heart of a garrison town and walked away without the PAF being able to do anything about it, and how Trump withheld billions of dollars in CSF for services Pakistan had already rendered. The list of what Pakistan has been through is endless.
Well they had to do a better job than they are, they had to be enough to at least give Chinese something to think aboutFor decades, the americans gave india a lot of support, investment and privileges in ALL fields for a REASON. Now the americans want returns for everything they have done for india. Trump wants his and america's dues. indians can't deliver on this and so trump and the americans are furious with the indians.
PS Did ANYONE EVER believe that the indians could take on the Chinese and be a bulwark against the Chinese on behalf of the americans and the west?...........![]()

Some nations are simply too big to be neutralNeutrality doesn't really exist in this world, unless you don't have to do anything with both of the parties.
Let's see how the Indians survive Trump. I want to see how shrewd the Indians really are. Can they outsmart Trump? I don't think so, but time will tell.
They will. Trump does more U-turns than Imran Khan, and none within the U.S. is taking him seriously enough. Remember, overall, Trump is here for a limited time. He was an anomaly, a black swan.
Bookmarked this thread. I hope many of these experts would be here to accept that they have bitten dust.
Like many times before.
Trump will only do a U-turn once his objectives are met. Be rest assured.
Agriculture and Dairy should never be open to USA. Our small farmers will never be able to sustain the onslaught of mega corporations. This will go the same way as mom and pop shops in USA. Now you can rarely see them in USA as they could not survive the tactics of corporations.@Dalit bro,
Thanks, that was very helpful. So we will have to do three things.
1. Cut down import duties
2. Cut down on Russian oil and arms purchase
3. Open up our agri/diary sectors.
Now, I see IND complying on #1 and #2, but not on #3. In fact on 1, I believe we are open to zero reciprocal duties, barring agri and dairy sectors.
What do you say>
Regards
Correct. Some nations are simply too big to be neutral
When you are too big, and you are fighting for neutrality, you don't just have one potentially enemy, but several, I don't get these big Indian strategic thinkers who think that neutrality is not an aggressive position, it really is, and everyone can see it
China will not miss the opportunity to assert its dominance in the region, and America will also not miss the opportunity to show that they cannot be fooled and will allow India to just increase its global power
So you have India, then the two biggest powers in the world trying to coerce it.
No Russia for meaningful support
just my view of things
