Chinese SAC - FC-31/J-35 5th Gen Stealth Aircraft

In my opinion, PL16 is NOT an advance variant of PL15 since it does match with the common naming terminologies used by Chinese military.

I believe that PL-16 in fact is a new missile of its own with specific parameters.

Pl15 is atleast 10 years old, so your point holds a great weight since China will be working for a more advance missile to replace pl15s, a missile for 5th and 6th generation planes.

There is a news on internet with some one having large number of followers that 11 J-35 has already been delivered to PAF.
Now i am not saying or taking credit for anything (I myself been sceptical).

As I just posted in the PAF section, there is so much chatter around since a few months and to me it seems, most of them are just reposting stuff they heard without checking who posted it first and now this posting, reposting, hyping etc. has reached a level where no one asks (or wants to ask) whether it can even be true.

Every time you see an increment in a product's generation number, it represents a new product. That's a universal process. If this was just an upgrade to PL-15, they could've named it PL-15 V2 like we've seen KLJ-7A V1 and V2. But this has newer technology in it and thus, a next generation name PL-16.

The current production run doesn't allow for deliveries to Pakistan as it's local versions only. As expected, after delivering first few J-35 A's for combat evaluation to PLAAF, the remainder of the run is creating the naval version of J-35's.

If Pakistan is going to get them and it's signed and agreed upon, it may be until next year when they'll start producing the J-35AE first batch.

Usa has around 600 5th generation planes for airforce, total around 2000 4th and 5th generation. China is not far behind with 300 5th generation and total around 1800 4th and 5th generation. China will produce 2 5th generation planes whilst work on the 6th generation, they will catch up the Usa very soon and overtake them.

No, total US 5th generation aircraft will exceed 1,000 before the end of the year. Total F-35 and F-22 fleet stands around 971 currently.

Makes sense! The Chinese are driving in the top gear to cross 1000 stealth jets fielded by 2030.

I am not sure about it. It seems China has second thoughts about selling a front-line fighter due to possible technical leakage to Turkey or even the US. So they demand an iron-clad guarantee that there will be no leakage. That means a permanent station observer on the base. Installing the tracking system and the kill switch in the source code of the fighter And no change can be done on site!

Old news. That discussion has already happened when we received the J-10's. The Chinese know very well that their assets are safe. They even know it with personal experience on how secret we keep things. With such close relationship, we've never allowed them near our F-16's per our commitment with the US. So they know it first hand that Pakistan guards secrets well.

Nobody knows since no information is available, Pakistan is definitely interested in J35s.

1. Based on the current situation analysis, SAC will not be able to reach a total production volume of 40 J-35 Air Force versions by 2026. So, you can analyze the answer to your question yourself.

2. If PAF has already placed a purchase order with CATIC for the FC-31/J-35 and plans to begin delivery in 2025-2026, then CATIC should have already placed purchase orders with various parts suppliers. However, in reality, CATIC has not placed any purchase orders with parts suppliers.

While Andreas can answer you, I can also try to answer your question.

- We have placed a J-10C order for a 3rd squadron. My personal take is, India's growing Rafale fleet to neat 150, should mean we will have 4-5 squadrons of J-10C's at a minimum. We have too many jets to retire.

- J-35: Due to the urgency post war with India, the order should have been placed. We expect these Jets first batch, to start to come in towards the end of 2026 or in 2027.

Right now, China is working on its own orders for PLAN and PLAAF. They are making changes to, and expanding production lines. So I won't be surprised if we see our jets in 2027. Hopefully, by then, we should also see a design for PFX stealth too.

I've mentioned this over a month ago in various posts. It's a new missile with newer technologies.
