Yeah, my feeling that is why PAF keeping a large SAAB 2000 fleet for training/spares/extra Erieye conversion.

The actual SAAB 2000 is very impractical as an airlifter. No cargo door and think body, so they are not that versitile in that role
theyre handy for shifting personnel about.

Yeah, but how often do we need that? That layout is not even a good use of space for troop transport. We also have Y-12s if we just need to shuttle personnel from base to base and our VIP fleet is very generously equipped.

It is wise PAF nabbed 5 extra ones on top of the Erieyes though, save airframe fatigue on the radar equipped models when we are converting pilots, and we can but a few radar sets and upgrades when we want or when funds allow

remember, when we go for exercises etc, large amounts of crew go too, for ex within range these are quite handy, or when officials are being shuttled around etc. As far as i can tell, PAF doesnt have anything in class with this much capacity to carry personnel around. Theyre not vip birds, more mass transporters

No, i get that, but 5 is a generous number for the tasks you mentioned, it would be for most air forces

My point about VIP is that it is probably not even used for that.

The main purpose of this fleet is probably for traning/spares/conversions. Shuffling men around is a nice extra, and we were doing that with CN-235s and C-130s for a long time prior

So how does Sea Sultan compares to India's stripped down P-8I.

I like to believe Sea Sultan will more capable in the longer run. We've our own tailor made platform can be upgraded without much hassle. While India will be forced to buy an employ overpriced downgraded Poseidons
man this gold stuff......any other details what they stripped from India's export tech?
