Good call. Timely and well deserved in the proportions recommended.

I disagree with those suggesting the reversal of allowance allocations for following reasons:

a) For those who may not know, OR's get their rations, uniforms, quartering, utilities all free of cost. Officers do not.

b) Officer corps is much smaller than the NCO/OR numbers in the armed forces. Just on the basis of rudimentary economics, if the proportions were reversed, the cost to the exchequer would be many times higher. However, this is not the reason for this allocation, it is tied to "a".

People should understand the facts of life in service instead of harping on silly populist sloganeering.

Also, what is the actual source of the points above about tax exemption on sale of property and reduction in customs duty on import of automobiles? I see nothing in the primary source linked above. Is this yet another effort to sow discord by the usual inimical crowd?

On 11 June 2025, the Government of Pakistan revealed its upcoming budget for the fiscal year of 2025 to 2026, under which it proposed a near 20% increase to the country’s defence budget.

This increase will raise the defence budget to 2.55 trillion Pakistani rupees (PKR) – or USD $9 billion – from PKR 2.12 trillion in the fiscal year of 2024-2025 (or USD $7.64 billion).

The federal government’s budget for 2025-2026 decreased by 6.7% compared to 2024-2025 (around USD $62.45 billion), resulting in defence assuming a greater share of this year’s budget compared to that of the previous year.

The agriculture Income tax should fund these increases and any other defence needs.

The economy is hardly growing and the salaried class has been maxed out paying the income tax.

The ordinary people of Pakistan need salary raises and price decreases, not the already heavily subsidized and over pampered faujis. Drive around Pakistan faujis already have their grubby hands on everything.

Comparatively speaking, Pakistan spends much less per capita on defense/armed forces than most other regional and extra-regional countries.
Thanks to the Fauj, Pakistan Alhamdolillah stands secure. There is more work to be done of course, but not everybody buys into this sky is falling, sab khaa gai narrative.

Yes, nobody minds the intent, but it gets misused, especially the 6000cc car one. Also, the tax exemption for 1 kanal plot is fine, but shouldn't be for larger plots and farmhouses.

The indirect spending way more like the pension comes from the civilian budget, but still they are under army discipline/act as they are restrained to do/don't. A large portion of the debt instalment also belongs to military purchases.

Pakistan is getting weaker day by day. So, clinging to life doesn't mean we are fully living it.

My bad. Let me find it as I have seen it somewhere else. That is why I added so far....
The bill was approved by the cabinet six days later, but there has still been no notification (6000 cc car).

Ex-military officers allowed import of tax-free bulletproof vehicles

As per the federal cabinet’s decision, four- and three-star armed forces officers will be able to import vehicles up to 6,000 cc.

All costs of maintaining our own independent worldview. National defense is not cheap.
I can give COUNTLESS examples of how others are managing all of this and their national debts. Pakistan is not unique in any way when it comes to national defense.
