Pakistan Ordinance Factories - POF

To answer your question why don't they find a manufacturer in US. The did. But they found some ghetto ass manufacturer to produce AR-15s.

The primary job of POF is manufacturing ammunition for military needs. They do an adequate job for that. Everything else is a side hustle.

Man you just showed us worst examples of AR-15 platform. Look up Daniel Defense Block II and Giselle URGI, Knights Armament SR-16. Noveske N-4. See actually what gunfighters in US are carrying.

I'm a huge proponent and fan of AR platform. We should get new AR-15s for our SOF. SSW seriously need to get rid of their stupid F-2000.

But light weight variants of G-3 shall remain in infantry. There's a reason US Army is moving towards 6.8mm round for their infantry. USASOC still retains 5.56.

My post wan't saying we buy this "exact" model or manufacturer, or, move to 6.68 or 7MM round vs. 5.56, it was to just add a fact that there are other platforms out there. Since you said you are a proponent of the AR platform, that tells me you know it's capability. I've owned SW's and know many soldiers who have nothing but great things to say about it. It's size, weight, rate of fire in a war. 5.56 round is smaller for nations used to AK or G-7 type weapons, but it does the job well.

The issue was the pictures from POF above, those guys are still talking about G-3's and the likes, times have moved on. Those aren't exactly battle proven platforms.

I've owned SW's
Smith and Wesson? If yes than you need to get your standard high my man. That's like entry level.

There's no doubt about AR-15 reliability. But in our case it only makes sense in special operations.
Rest of the infantry should stick to platform who's manual of arm is a second nature.
AR-15 from 80's is outdated design but we kept working on it now we have AR-15 for the 21st century.
Same case with G-3 it is not bad platform. POF refused to work on it and now all managed to add a Armalite style buffer tube and upper to make it "Modern" in their eyes.

I have had guns from Sig and LMT and one from SW. I don't know if you know this or not, SW makes two types of weapons. One is for end users and the other one is military grade. So to flat out say "SW is a starter system" is inaccurate. You should target practice with say SW and LMT, check hit velocity on the laser meter and you'll find out. I've kept almost 5 major American brands, but Sig is the best. These are personal choices, us Pakistanis love to impose ourselves onto others.

Also, on specialized carbines, which was my purpose of the discussion, AR-15 will do good to our special forces. Infantry doesn't need so much re-investment if latest G-3's serve the purpose.

What the Heck.
It took them 12 years to develop a sniper rifle.
The future it was designed for is already past.
no, It means you don't have to import and no need to be at the whim of the OEM for repairs.

But the development cycle is long, but had there been a private industry then you wouldn't have to have waited 12 years.

Why isn't this being offered to international market? 190 countries and more than 80% import small arms!

I believe this has been shelved

But in the PTV video he says it's in production. Which is true?

Or maybe it's that on PTV he's talking about BW-20 and here about BW-21. The two were different designs both using 7.62x51 and maybe one went ahead and the other didn't.

I think he was referring to the BW20 and CW39 (which have been confirmed by reliable sources to be selected at least for the Marines)

Very well said, and I will reiterate this again. POF is a disgrace to Pakistan Military Industrial Complex. Its so laughable (shameful even) to see POF displaying golden MP5's on defence expo's hoping to get attention from some Arab sheikh to buy them. They have been stuck back in time and are unable to comprehend the latest trends and tech around the world. Even if they can't manufacture a world class expensive rifle, they should have at least upgraded their G3's to modern standards like some European armies did or create an upgraded variant of AK.
Yup and same goes for HIT

Pakistan's only hope is that some private company or GIDS develops a modern and good assault rifle and POF good for nothing using their huge assets mass produces it.
