Bangladesh Air Force

They are probably looking to get each for 5-6 millions. Getting old ones may seem typical but it is actually reasonable. Considering for the purpose they are being bought, no need to procure overengineered latest versions with a price Tage of 30+ millions each. (We can't afford that) @LeonBlack08

Plus, they already had plans to increase the number of utilities in army aviation. MI171 was the most reasonable choice from a technical standpoint but they can't get them any.ore due to sanction.

I don't understand why just 4. I imagine its because it'll be medical evacuation or SAR, so only 4.
Still no word on new attack helicopters I guess :(

Agree with not procuring latest but getting airframes from 1980s is atrocious.

Old is gold. That is our military procurement motto... 🤣
Can't wait for the DGDP tender to buy 4x P-47 Thunderbolts(refurbished, not older than 1942) from the US. It will represent a seismic strategic shift in Bangladesh's defence doctrine and modernisation plans.

You guys are too harsh on your present government and air force when it comes to modernization. In the last 15 years nothing could be done for BAF, quite possibly because Hasina's sponsors did not approve of it. The present government, however, is facing altogether a different challenge, i.e., India/RAW sponsored saboteurs in the BD military. Until they are purged completely I suspect a major cooperation and weapons procurement from China or even Pakistan is difficult, if not outright impossible. Russia is problematic because of the US pressures. France is out of question because of India factor, and also because France's financial demands are borderline robbery. This might be also be true for UK, and if you aim for Typhoons then you have to contend with multiple countries for approval, and probably hard pressed to convince Germany (for new ones).

You don't understand. Its not just because of modernisation we are slowly disliking this government. This was supposed to be a revolutionary government, founded in the aftermath of the revolution. We absolutely expected them to be strong and reformative, they had all the popular support in the world. Yet, in the past year, this government has only proven to be spineless. They haven't purged the Indian/Awami assets from the administration and the military, they haven't made any worthwhile reforms, worst of all, they're letting BNP and other parties run free and do whatever they want. We are slowly sinking back into our old days because this government didn't do what it was supposed to.

Gadhas make these tenders don't they 😆
You just wonder what goes on in the minds of these muppets who approve these tenders. 40-year-old airframes from the world's busiest military, really?

Back in the 80s when Bangladesh was entirely dependent on foreign aid for its budget, Ershad bought Bell 212s which were less than 20 years old. We are going backwards!

Wait 20 years and they'll be hauling the Kitty Hawk(refurbished, not older than 1903) from the Museum to upgrade our air force
