PAF SAM based Air Defense System - News, Discussion & Updates

Regarding the attack on our radars, can someone please clarify where this radar was targeted? It does not look like the YLC-8B radar to me though, and is this pic really legit? It was posted by an Indian troll yesterday on Discord with whom I was debating, and it was a shocker to me since I have never seen this pic before, is this really ours?

Agreed.

Not forgetting Chunian has been debunked too.

BrahMos have done some damages. But it's not a silver bullet. So be careful when discussing with Indians online.

Images by Maxar and other imagery providers are already out there and we’ll analysed.
Google earth updates its imagery regularly. For some places, the update has already been done. One prominent one is Sargodha where patches on the runway are clearly visible.

If updates are done with May 25 imagery for other prominent places then common users can get unphotoshopped imagery for both the sides. Should be coming out anytime now.

Agreed - by the way - the imagery for Chunian radar site is already out. Shows radar still intact - clearly debunks IAF's claims. (I hope now people on other side of border don't start claiming urgent new radars were delivered by US to Pakistan)

Always curious why is there a lack of satellite images on the Indian site as compared to Pakistan? Only one on the top of my mind is Udhampur.

I am pretty confident one or two Fatah missiles would have penetrated through.

Have to be some atleast - at the very least from the 4 bases where IAF itself accepted damage to equipment and personnel both. Not to mention they had casualities too.

Can someone here, earning alot of dollars buy from Maxar and post? 😁

Actually damage to both equipment and personnel at five airbases was accepted by Sofia Qureshi

@JamD @Quwa

ukrainian patriot interception rate drops to 6pc.

russian subsonics were upgraded to be able to fly around pop up threats etc (babur ng babur ng babur ng!!!!), degrading its effectiveness.

Just shows, if you dont have control on your own AD, you cannot adapt as fast as your adversary to be able to advance with the changing threeats. We urgently need to build a national AD layer, not china, heck, not even european- unless either are willing to help us bring the tech in house, we should really seek to actually indigenise air defence, maybe an even greater priority than other procurement matters at the moment.

though, ukraine also shows there is no good counter to missiles and ad is only so effective, there is that too i guess. PAF VTOL program next lol

Maybe It could be because cruise missile interceptions are being done primarily by medium range systems like the IRIS T and NASAMS to conserve patriot interceptors, if we don't have mass production capacity we are going to run into the same problem even if we do have indigenous systems.

Tbf that 6% interception rate pertains to ballistic missiles i.e Iskander which Russia reportedly updated to evade Patriot

PIESAT is a huge deal then because the higher-fidelity mapping data can be re-fed back into the TERCOM and DSMAC stacks of the LACMs.

But it's a three-fold benefit.

On the one hand, you have daily (if not hourly) image refreshes of the main targets. On the other hand, you could also track changes in the route to those targets, e.g., AD deployments. And you also get higher quality data of the terrain so that you can engage lower- (or higher-) flying where effective (relative to AD deployments).

So, assuming Pakistan builds or acquires the software layer to update the TERCOM/DSMAC systems onboard the LACMs as frequently as possible (OTA updates?), it can theoretically build the capacity to working around Indian IADS.

OTOH, re: our AD, the ideal would be that we procure a modern SAM platform (with TVC, dual-pulse rocket motor, booster motors) with turnkey ToT and scale its range up using booster motors. Wish we could've grabbed the Denel Umkhonto program. Option 2 could be to buy into the Turkish Hisar and Siper programs if possible.
