I thought two engines delivered every month, now becomes every quarter?

Maybe they can share it across airframes - letting them fly on a round robin schedule, switching every other weekend and flipping a coin for leap year schedules so no airframe is left without at least tasting flight.

So is the weapon integration failed or success?

I can't believe India wants more engines from USA for the next batch of 97 fighters ordered recently
Trump will embargo these

Well with the enormous delay with redesigning with a new engine, that's the only game left. Parallel activities may continue.

We badly need private players NOW.

Said it once, will say it again. I predicted a year ago 2026 will be be the death of this project in all but name. They will be drip feeding "breaking news" on this project for another year, "wing assembly delivered", "Guy at GE off his lunch break and fixed a valve on an engine for Tejas that will be delivered soon:, "78th round of Astra integrations", HAL completes 8th production line for building Tejas" etc

IAF has not received a single new fighter in 5 years

Not a single new Tejas delivered since then

No GE engine "made in India"

GE engines and now MK2 first flight pushed back.

Nothing of signficance changes, no matter the desperate posts by Indians on this forum.

Project will go the way of "super mega Arjun" tank. Indian Army using 120 Arjuns and 2,500 T-72s still

IAF will ve using 2 squadrons of Tejas to show the project is not dead and still be flying 6 squadrons of Jaguars 3 years from now.

World will have moved on.....

Although it may sound farfetched at this stage, embargoing India might not be off the table for Trump unless he has his way. It will be a good ruse for cancelling Tejas project though.

"Delay" in GE engines could actually be an unoffical arms embargo put in place till India plays ball.

2+2 US - India dialogue last week was downgraded from US side, Hegseth and Rubio skipped it, sent juniors.

10 Year Defence Partnership was supposed to be announced, now it has been "pushed back"

Looks like the current spate is slowly starting to effect Mil-Mil cooperation

I think India should follow suit downgrade political meetings postpone military deals and start talking to alternative supplier be it
Russia
Israel.
France
Etc

I totally agree - what India needs for the Tejas programme right now is an engine change. India should go for it.

Am old enough to remember back in the day many Indians online (maybe the fathers of some Indian members on here) boasting India will have made 200 Tejas in service by now and be exported, JF-17 will only be produced in limited numbers, will be delayed due finances and lack of expertise

That entire paragraph turned out to be true, expect you need to switch names of the planes....

You must be very old Yasser lol.

There never was much of a mil-mil cooperation to begin with. All those agreements remain mostly "agreements." India has also stayed away from big ticket American offensive capabilities - Apache helicopters being exception, of course.

Russia
Israel.
France
Etc
That will not be helpful in the case of Tejas. Failure to secure GE engines would very likely spell the end for this project. Russian RD-33/RD-93 or French SNECMA engines would require redesigning the air frame. This will exponentially delay the delivery, if redesign ever comes to fruition. The aircraft by then might be completely obsolete. Israel does not have an independent fighter jet engine program so its redundant in this case.

Politically, the more India collaborates with Russia - especially in spite of the US - the more US would seek to isolate it. If it comes to it, the US can stop Israel from cooperating with India also, especially if the equipment Israel is supplying has US items in/on them.

Safest bet is collaborating with France to develop new engines. But it would not be for Tejas, rather AMCA. Also, consider that while India might eventually get a quality engine, it would come at high cost - France always milks countries with no other options - and the US will likely also dash India's hopes for a global role.
