Al - Haider VT-4 MBT - The Premier PA Ground Asset [Developments]

Significant noise reduction... I wonder if there is also some range extension due to the hybrid system..

Or just a hybrid car noise vs normal car.
That is it.

The advantage that has is even more in IR signature of the stationary tank than anything eslse

There was no AK-2 In the first place it didn't exist the AL Haider already does what the AK-2 was intended to do.
I remember someone claiming that there were some prototype hulls made for the AK-2 and were later abandoned.. this was on the old forum...

Some interesting claims in the above tweet..
More interesting is that this might not be an IFV in the traditional sense..
Seems like a good Heavy Reconnaissance and Fire Support Vehicle...
It looks like it could take a beating.
The 3 man aren't supposed to passengers as well.. but rather deployed internally or externally a few kms back to provide reconnaissance or indirect firepower...
A first of it's kind vehicle type if you ask me with regards to specialization...

I'm assuming the al haiders being built on top of that? How many al haiders do we intend to induct?
The total requirement from the PA (hypothetically) is over a thousand tanks (if we are to replace Type 59s/69s 1-1 and then also replace UDs eventually due to lack of spares). The Haider will continue to be produced for quite some time. The orders from China are coming in Parallel to the local production (i believe they’re almost all delivered at this point because the original order from China was significantly reduced in favor of more local production).

Keep in mind there have been both fully assembled deliveries and CKD deliveries (assembled at HIT) of VT4Ps from China, while Haider production is separate entirely; So there have been VT4s that have come out of HIT but aren’t Haiders.

Those are al haider we have more normal VT-4s too
The name is ā€œHaiderā€ and not ā€œAl-Haiderā€ - the Haider production has definitely not hit the 176 mark yet, i believe it’s > 3 Regiments as of now (Including the ones in service and the ones ready to deliver/almost ready at HIT).

The 176 number being quoted is an old figure from the initial order.

Does al khalid 2 program exist or it was replaced by al haider.
The AK-2 Program does still exist in some form - but I don’t think it carries that designation anymore nor is its goal to create the next generation of AK for production, the AK program is ongoing and it’s current goal is to create an upgrade package for the 440 Odd AK/AK-1s in PA service to bring them closer to the VT4P/Haider in capability and extend their life by reducing reliance on Ukrainian parts.

There were definitely a bunch of design studies but it never really got that far, the AK-1 was only produced post 2020 and half of its order was cancelled too in favor of the Haider.

They should induct 1000 al haiders why so much different tanks in service . India simply has two t90 and t72 each in thousand. Divide it in Al khalid 1 and al Haiders/vt4 for PA

It is an older platform and not sure why there is ā€œemotionalā€ attachment to the AK by certain folks.
