There was no AK-2 In the first place it didn't exist the AL Haider already does what the AK-2 was intended to do.Are no further AK-2s being made?
And will they upgrade original AK or AK-1s to AK-2 standard?
Significant noise reduction... I wonder if there is also some range extension due to the hybrid system..
Or just a hybrid car noise vs normal car.Wow, it is getting creepy.![]()
I remember someone claiming that there were some prototype hulls made for the AK-2 and were later abandoned.. this was on the old forum...There was no AK-2 In the first place it didn't exist the AL Haider already does what the AK-2 was intended to do.
There might have been but it never got far.I remember someone claiming that there were some prototype hulls made for the AK-2 and were later abandoned.. this was on the old forum...
Around 176 as per the Express News Report
The total requirement from the PA (hypothetically) is over a thousand tanks (if we are to replace Type 59s/69s 1-1 and then also replace UDs eventually due to lack of spares). The Haider will continue to be produced for quite some time. The orders from China are coming in Parallel to the local production (i believe theyāre almost all delivered at this point because the original order from China was significantly reduced in favor of more local production).I'm assuming the al haiders being built on top of that? How many al haiders do we intend to induct?
The name is āHaiderā and not āAl-Haiderā - the Haider production has definitely not hit the 176 mark yet, i believe itās > 3 Regiments as of now (Including the ones in service and the ones ready to deliver/almost ready at HIT).Those are al haider we have more normal VT-4s too
The AK-2 Program does still exist in some form - but I donāt think it carries that designation anymore nor is its goal to create the next generation of AK for production, the AK program is ongoing and itās current goal is to create an upgrade package for the 440 Odd AK/AK-1s in PA service to bring them closer to the VT4P/Haider in capability and extend their life by reducing reliance on Ukrainian parts.Does al khalid 2 program exist or it was replaced by al haider.
There were definitely a bunch of design studies but it never really got that far, the AK-1 was only produced post 2020 and half of its order was cancelled too in favor of the Haider.I remember someone claiming that there were some prototype hulls made for the AK-2 and were later abandoned.. this was on the old forum...
They should induct 1000 al haiders why so much different tanks in service . India simply has two t90 and t72 each in thousand. Divide it in Al khalid 1 and al Haiders/vt4 for PAThe AK-2 Program does still exist in some form - but I donāt think it carries that designation anymore nor is its goal to create the next generation of AK for production, the AK program is ongoing and itās current goal is to create an upgrade package for the 440 Odd AK/AK-1s in PA service to bring them closer to the VT4P/Haider in capability and extend their life by reducing reliance on Ukrainian parts.
It is an older platform and not sure why there is āemotionalā attachment to the AK by certain folks. There were definitely a bunch of design studies but it never really got that far, the AK-1 was only produced post 2020 and half of its order was cancelled too in favor of the Haider.
