H-1B visas must end’: Wife of US citizen shares plight of landing IT jobs

dont be outspoken about indians...

you can never trust a deranged person!

Indians are half arrogant half retard!
When we were outsourcing a lot of our Finance backoffice operations, the Indians that came over to work alongside the US consulting team we engaged for the project (don't get me started on them), they really weren't intellectually curious on how the business operated. Or some of the processes for that matter.

Over the years, we had some folks who were very good at developing Excel macros for automating a lot of the tasks for pulling data from the systems and creating the reports. There were several problems here:

1. they were good at creating the macros and teaching people how to run them.
2. they were NOT good at documentation. So there was none.
3. some of those people hadn't been with the company in years yet the macros lived on
4. some of the people who used those macros lacked an understanding of the manual steps required to pull the same data. So it was impossible for them to teach the Indians.
5. the Indians exhibited no interest in wanting to go into the sandbox system so they could learn this and create their own documentation

It was a mess. And irritating. More so because the parent of the Indian company taking over our backoffice operations is a global IT company you all know.

There is no democrat leader with the force of personality to reverse what trump has done with the same speed

We do not even know yet how trump will progress. This is not even a year

If the psychological pressure continues on India, I really can't predict how this will go

As things stand, Pakistan should have a level of maturity and evolution given the grinder they have been through the last few decades, there used to be certain immature strands of thinking, those seem to have vanished

The main problem now, is not directions so much but execution on the obvious path.

India in short to medium term may actually continue to execute given the prior momentum of the last two decades, beyond that who knows beyond that who knows

I have a hunch. After the removal of Elon Musk, Trump and his team are applying immediate pressure on Modi and India. Right now, Modi has played his cards by attending the SCO moot in China. Trump has been watching from a distance. He is allowing Modi to vent his anger. A time will come when patience runs out and Trump will start applying different tactics. Tactics that will completely wreck India US relations.

This should be an afternoon's work with AI. Seriously.

I have basic to mid-level knowledge of macros, I know the principles fairly well, and even I am surprised the "work" I can pull off with AI, ways to make life easier that I would not have previously bothered with because it's just too much hassle

My understanding is the Chinese told Modi to get lost and go home just before the Pak PM arrived.

True, now that is. This was in 2009 when we outsourced. Back then, AI was simply 2 letters in the alphabet.

It is slightly terrifying what used to be considered a very specific and respected skill is reduced to... not much, as long as you understand that AI itself is a model, and if you know how to appropriately and correctly parameterize your requirements you will get there quite quickly.

So you do need some knowledge

curse of being one dimension creature..

In India, child starts his world's experience by rote learning coding step (& science too for that matter!) without knowing why that thing came about in the first place!

it is like watching, Troy, without even understanding what Trojan horse implies!!!!!!

Yes they are all making themselves great at the expense of Indians.
Just like Trump deported some of them in USA. look for European clones of Trump to do the same

They are still Chinese aren't they? Trump's legacy will remain. The Republican party is ripe for even more conservative leaders. Trump is just the beginning. The Democrats have their work cut out. There is a lot of demand for Trump politics in the US.
Chinese != Chinese Americans

You are right that 54k are Chinese nationals. But a lot of them settle in US and become US citizens

Following Trump policies to the logical conclusion would mean less h1bs from India, less imports from China and less IMF loans for Pakistan. I expect the Democrats to mimic Trump and to implement policies in those directions

That's exactly the strategy, to push India away and then blame it for considering other options

Ultimately America chooses its allies and its enemies, both.

Maybe modi is ultimately a sellout, because those stupid optics are all over the Western press and he will get nothing special in return from China, didn't he say something weird about having to personally sacrifice?

So bjp out, Congress in, USA happy, Hindu nationalism setback again.

Shall we have a friendly bet😀

Maybe just UK which ain't in Europe but has struck a deal with India. European language barriers have so far shielded them from this modern trade.

As pressure mounts on manufacturers and a declining population coupled with failure of middle Eastern diaspora in Europe, some might be willing to deal with Indians.

no two vibrations have the same weight!

specially when they are dead whilst being alive!

be very careful... India is the only nation with 'no first use policy, if the opponent does not have a nuke!'

But what do you think? instead of suggesting the cost motive for companies, if you just do a straight comparison of potential employees from the USA versus India, does the Indian employee have superior skills to the American? I don't think I've heard this simple statement.
It's like you don't even know what I just wrote. What straight comparison do you want. It must be hard for you to accept Indian engineers and scientists can be smarter in a lot of fields. But I don't know what you expect me to say other than show the data. You can look at the number of patents filed by these "Indians" in the US. Why do you want to go with feeelz instead of readily available data?
