Altay & Turkish Main Battle Tank Programs

In short term this was a disaster project, in long term this is super project. We have now Engine industry what will be core supply for the navy in the future.

the delay was probably a blessing in disguise

they have managed to probably evaluate and incorporate the learnings from the Russia-Ukraine war and what effect drone warfare has on the modern battlefield

these learning will enhance the Altays survivability on the modern battlefield

Happy ending to a long story!

The first delivery of the ALTAY tanks, whose mass production has begun, will take place on October 28, 2025.

ALTAY will be delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces during the official opening ceremony of the BMC Ankara Tank and Next-Generation Armored Vehicles Production Facility established in Kahramankazan.

The Altay tank has been delivered to the Turkish Land Forces Command.

For the first time in years, a brand-new tank has entered the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces.

President ERDOGAN

I always say this, and I reiterate it today: The obstacles we encounter on the path to our goals will only slow us down, perhaps delay us a bit, but they can never prevent us from reaching our destination.

We will either find a way or open one, and eventually, we will reach our goal.

Starting from the end of 2026, mass production of the ALTAY Tank will continue with the domestic and national power group BATU, produced by BMC Power

HUGE milestone in this stage with the German engine embargo to finally induction with alternative powerpack. Now the only thing left is to increase production speed, which i think they will start doing in the coming months.

No technical hurdles left, no certification tests left, only induction and that was done today.

Even in the scenario where the domestic powerpack is not ready(but I think it will be ready with tests completed) in 2026, the production will not stop b/c the Korean powerpack is in mass production and with steady deliveries, so engines will keep getting delivered.
