Ironically, in a US History class I took in grad school, the time period was the mid-1830 through the 1870s. Had to do a paper on the movements of one of the Texas regiments that now make up the Texas National Guard. Interesting reading; must have read a couple hundred letters and several diaries while researching for the paper.

The Governor endorsed him because she is up for re-election next year, and faces challengers. She doesn’t want Zohran campaigning against her.

If Zohran wins, he is set to endorse so many challengers to these entrenched democrats next year, unless they endorse him now before the mayoral election this November. Ball is in the court of these party bosses.
