Pakistan-Saudi Arabia mutual defense pact: News & Discussion

depressed?! Oh mate im living great. Own house, work 4 days a week, get 5 days off and make 6 figs for doing most peoples dream job. Life is good!

I know mate, its not as if any of us are so insecure we need to state our salary or put our job title on our pofile, or indeed declare ourselves a "Think Tank Consultant".

No one cares, you could be a minicab driver with good English....

1) Obviously we all know strategic defense means Pakistan will go to war with Saudia and vis-a-vis.

2) FDI will come in two wars.
- To expand Pakistan's defense industry. Our leadership wants PFX to eventually produce a 5th gen stealth so that's what we will have with J-35's. The US won't let Saudis have F-35. So now with Pakistani stealth aircrafts stationed in Saudia, they can smile and tell the Americans "it's Pakistani stuff stationed there" :)

- FDI in the shape of giving more Jobs to Pakistanis as well AND buying Pakistani public companies shares to transfer money here so the same large companies can expand out to the middle eastern market as well as offer more products and services locally.

Aggression can be dealt with economic sanctions too, but for KSA-Isreal situation idk what Pakistan have other then bashing Isreal on UN...

Well it depends if you trust the Pakistanis and Saudis commitment and relationship, they have always stood by us.

So will SA be involved in a war with India now?

And will Pakistan be involved in a war with Israel?

The agreement seems to be aimed as a detterance against Israel, how likely is Israel to attack SA? Weren't relations proceeding smoothly between them.

Any economic deals or FDI promised? Weapons codevelopment?

I'm just curious what this deal entails. And how Israel will respond.
The joint statement clearly states that a “Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement” was signed. This is not an MoU or a vague framework, it is a binding mutual defense pact. If it were anything less, the wording would have reflected that.

From Saudi Arabia’s perspective, this step makes perfect sense. The Israeli strikes on Qatar deeply shook the GCC, especially when the U.S. showed little willingness to defend Doha. This left Riyadh in a difficult position. President Sisi was pushing to lead a so-called “GCC NATO,” much to the dismay of KSA, but the UAE and Jordan opposed any military retaliation, while Kuwait and Bahrain adopted a softer stance. Iran, meanwhile, is already a spent force. That left only one truly reliable partner for Saudi Arabia: who would be willing to send boots on the ground: Pakistan.

For Pakistani perpective ... we are country that survives on Strategic leverages , we play this game better than any other country. U.S vs China, Israel vs GCC , Iran vs GCC, Iran vs Iraq ( 90s) , you can always find us there.

The below image sums up best, what this means for Pakistan :p

Interesting, they have invested a lot of FDI in India. Also a lot of Indians work there.

Now I'm curious how this would actually work out. Saudi is pretty far from here and it's not like they'll maintain airbases in Pakistan.

Is this deal meant to leverage Pakistan nukes as a cover? Or pakistan will have physical bases in Saudi. Now there's the US angle too.
This is a double edged sword to be honest. Israel will have the caucus belli then to hit Pak proper and won't PAF be stretched considering its already at war readiness with IAF?I
I always thought Israeli Saudi relations better than Qatar. Qatar always played both sides.
I see.

Dear i personally think it will remain confined to defense arrangements which is already there to some extent but with greater intensity and not as much as you mentioned. Yes War or direct attack is something else where this will actually have some meaningful impact. Regarding Israel point, I don't think thats something which is out of syllabus even now.

Some people are getting way too excited! Its most probably sh!t and nothing will come out of it! Calling it 'Strategic' does mean it is strategic. None of the main media sites are even reporting it!

Saudi Arabia had created a strategic military coalition few years ago! Its already been dead for years!

Well Pakistan never really needed KSA manpower or fighter jets to counter India, we have good enough military to hold Indians off on our own as long as we have oil for our Tanks/Planes etc, KSA doesn't have to attack India directly but for as long as they extend us the delivery of Oil in case of War we can hold Indians off on our own.

second, As far as protecting the KSA is concern they have better equipment to protect themselves than us but they are useless at the hands of Saudi's because they have no will to fight, bit obviously as KSA security is important not due to these Fancy princesses wearing dresses but because of the 2 Holy Sites of Mecca and Madina, which obviously any Muslim country will send its men or equipment to defend if need be.

Now of course we will never know the real extent of such agreement, because it would be stupid to let the details known to your enemy, but any large force from Pakistan to be stationed in KSA needs a full military base, at least 1-2 Fully BVR equipped fighter jets, proper Air defense systems, Radars etc. If we just build a small base that house few thousand Pakistan troops without a proper air cover, or AF jets than they will be sitting ducks for IDF to launch Air strikes, Also if we do ended up building a Base will this mean that any projectile or plane that flies over KSA or near by will be tracked ? will PA or PAF have authorization to shoot it down ? there is a lot of information that are not released nor will be, but if I do see that Pakistan is building a big military base with KSA money, which include runways, bunkers, this mutual defense agreement will be nothing but a fuss.
