At the end, we are ALL Pakistanis. When we see good happening for our country, we should appreciate the one's running the country and their efforts.

Pakistan stock market has tripled since 2022. It is the BEST and EASIEST instrument to invest in Pakistan especially by foreigners.

PSX has been one of the top 5 profit giving markets in the world since 2022. America runs on it's stock market. How could we think it's a small feat?

In 2022, our market capitalization was around $ 26-27 BILLION USD if I remember correctly. I've even listed the Dollar exchange rate that I used for below calculations so your curious mind can't claim I didn't know "dollar rate" to multiply.

You can do the "kindergarten math" now like you said. Just read the numbers:

2023: 32.57 BILLION US DOLLARS - (PSX 9,062,903.00 million PKR; 1 USD = 278.22 PKR

2024: 52.05 BILLION USD (PSX 14,495,888.75 million PKR; 1 USD = 278.52471

September 2025: PKR 18.276 trillion, which converts to about 64.8 Billion USD!!!

So over $ 30 billion investment in 3 years. Meaning nearly $ 11 billion dollars annually came in for three years straight as an Average from Pakistan and foreign countries. It will hit $ 70 billion this year.

You think it's a joke and these foreigners are stupid to invest in PSX? It's just ONE kind of investment that has come in. Not to mention the 35-45% profit we've paid on this investment already!

Have some mercy on your nation and for your political stunts, don't disrespect your nation. Appreciate where growth is taking place.

1) The topic is Pakistan. How do you take a nation with less than $ 500 billion economic size and compare it with a 4 times larger area, with 5 times more population and estimated economy size of $3.5 trillion dollars? This right here tells your political motives behind your post. You are just writing useless content to make Pakistan look bad. A 5 times more population even without external growth is big enough to be 3,4,5 times larger than us. Can't compare a truck to a sedan.

2) PFX went from $28 billion to near $70 billion. Majority of this nearly $40 BILLION DOLLARS increase is foreign investment. So you are saying these companies are dumb and stupid they are investing billions into Pakistan without a reason?

3) Based on your posts, I can see it's all politics. But if you were following Pakistan's economy, we had open up the entire industrial landscape for foreign investments, especially to Arabs. This massive $40 billion cash infusion is from these nations as a confidence to acquiring Pakistani companies.

4) We have IPO's that happen here too. Meaning "new industry". With our fragile economy until 2022, obviously there would be little new business activity. But it's there. 2 companies are coming for IPO this month.

5) Quiet a few companies have been funded with share prices topping market expectations because some have started operations in oil and gas sector, some went into minerals and some went into AI/IT services. And the local and foreign investors researched, studied their future proposals for R&D, etc, and invested heavily in those companies. Hopefully this can settle your lack of understanding about the Pakistani market. Is it equal to the US or India? How could it be, we are a small nation. But it's been giving better return than the US and India for 3 years in a row as it has a lot of potential and it's world's one of top performers.

So instead of criticizing, INVEST and make money through Roshan digital account for overseas Pakistanis.

@RajaBaja

Raja Babu,

While I very much appreciate your (apparent) loyalty to Pakistan, there are a few points:

Can't compare a truck to a sedan.

India's population is 6 times PAK, which is the only metric worth comparing. But its mcap is almost 60X. So Zia sb is right in raising eyebrows

PFX went from $28 billion to near $70 billion. Majority of this nearly $40 BILLION DOLLARS increase is foreign investment.

No, it is not. It is merely change in valuation, which by itself quite commendable. But that is not an increase in foreign investment.

However, the good thing is that the current govt has already done the hard lifting with respect to economic stabilisation. With improving geopolitical conditions and green shoots in its mining industry, I do see FDI jumping up in PAK.

Regards

The data I submitted, was on investments / money flow into PSX. Not valuations!

I get a daily report that outlines IN flows and OUT flows! In fact, I make my own trading decisions based on this report. This report even breaks down overseas / foreign direct investments into categories, between overseas Pakistanis, foreign institutions and even down to Mutual Funds vs. investor organizations both locally and overseas.

Lastly, our stock aren't over priced that valuations will be higher. They are 25% higher over 3 years only. Foreign cash rotation is absolutely amazing.

Cairo and Islamabad are separated by deserts and plateaus, yet they are often mentioned together in development economics: both have populations exceeding 100 million, more than half of whom are under thirty, and both must find jobs for the millions who enter the labour market every year. The Nile generates “cash-flow”; the Indus writes a “balance-sheet”.

Population and density: Egypt has 105 million inhabitants at 99 per km²; Pakistan has 240 million at 256 per km². Roughly 60 % of the population in both countries is under thirty, so employment pressures are comparable. In 2024 Egypt’s nominal GDP is about US 383 billion and per-capita GDP US 3,600; Pakistan’s output is US 337 billion and per-capita GDP US 1,460, a gap explained mainly by exchange-rate and purchasing-power differences.

Egypt commands several foreign-exchange channels: roughly US 1.3 billion in annual U.S. military-cooperation funds, US 9.4 billion in Suez Canal dues, US 13 billion in tourism receipts and a further US 8.5 billion from oil and natural-gas exports. These inflows brighten the short-term indicators, yet public debt stands at 91 % of GDP—above Pakistan’s 77 %—and official unemployment is about 12 %, twice the Pakistani rate.

Pakistan lacks immediately marketable geography but builds “asset-based” momentum. Remittances of US 26 billion underpin the current account; the farm-textile-fertiliser chain supplies 40 % of industrial jobs. Its defence and strategic industries deserve equal attention: the JF-17 third-generation fighter, the Al-Khalid tank and the F-22P frigate are all assembled at home and exported. In 3 defence-related sales earned US 1.2 billion, 9 % of manufactured exports. Nuclear weapons and medium-range missiles give Islamabad a unique strategic position in the Muslim world. Dr Ayesha Siddiqa of the London School of Economics calls Pakistan’s defence industry “South Asia’s most under-rated import-substitution story”.

Overall, Egypt’s “cash-flow” model safeguards present-day stability but remains exposed to Red Sea tensions and shifts in external financing. Pakistan’s “balance-sheet” approach takes longer to mature, yet demographic scale, integrated defence production and nuclear capability anchor long-term security and upgrading space. As Maha Yahya of the Carnegie Middle East Center observes, “Cairo’s ability to monetise geo-rent makes Islamabad envious, but it also delays reform.” Cash-flow shapes today; the balance sheet shapes the decade. In that light Pakistan’s industrial depth and strategic autonomy are no less impressive—and potentially more promising—over the medium and long term.
