Actually the movie "Down Periscope " ( albiet a comedy but with serious wargaming) shows exactly such a maneuver by a World War 2 era diesel electric submarine to penetrate harbor defenses protected by nets, and a flotilla of destroyers as well as a nuclear attack submarine. Needless to say the maneuver in the movie was successful, and also once they fire the missiles they will be immediately targeted so even if they hit all the targets ( unlikely ) they will be stuck in Pakistani seas and its going to be another rafale like situation but this time you are losing submarines and 100s of sailors

Excellent! How about serious war gaming of potential scenarios and outcomes. I posted one scenario of a submarine based missile attack. To help any OSINT fans who want to track such events - here is my daily checklist for monitoring any potential flashpoint between Pakistan-India:

You can edit this for your own use freely - The only caveat I would add is that when considering "OSINT wallas" please keep an open mind as they may be open to embellish or misrepresent facts. Cross-reference any OSINT "news" with reputable or independent sources.
All critical triggers should mainly be monitored through official channels where attribution and the chain of "custody" can be confirmed.
Make a simulation thread brother - tag serious posters in there. Good idea.Excellent! How about serious war gaming of potential scenarios and outcomes. I posted one scenario of a submarine based missile attack.
My next scenario would be a heli-dropped air-land assault to retake Azad Kashmir by India, as Pakistan is distracted by naval attacks in the South.

You'd using some game, AI or other probabilistic methods for this?Excellent! How about serious war gaming of potential scenarios and outcomes. I posted one scenario of a submarine based missile attack.

yes that is a real possibility, but why would India risk it , in Pakistan's eyes those could be nukes , lets hope it never goes there . i am sure our navy is capable of handling these threats else Indians would have tried something last time .Actually the movie "Down Periscope " ( albiet a comedy but with serious wargaming) shows exactly such a maneuver by a World War 2 era diesel electric submarine to penetrate harbor defenses protected by nets, and a flotilla of destroyers as well as a nuclear attack submarine. It is unclear if a similar ruse was used by German submarines during World War 2 to strike the British Home Fleet in Scapa Flow Scotland. Such details of operations remain classified but it is reasonable to assume that as part of an exercise such a maneuver would definitely have been evaluated. The acoustic signature of a tanker may or may not mask a diesel subs noise but a sonar or sonobuoy would likely be less effective in detection.
To your question what happens after the Indian submarine fires its missiles: The submarine will instantly crash dive, and try to get away to safety. The tanker of course will be the sacrificial lamb to enable the submarine to get away.
I am no naval expert but the threat of a submarine launched heavy missile attack on Karachi is very real.

We had a mega thread once in the OLD PDF where we used a game simulator a long time ago but those models aren't really reliable. You'd using some game, AI or other probabilistic methods for this?
Would AI be applicable, I work with prompts a lot that's kinda my job along with probabilistic methods?.We had a mega thread once in the OLD PDF where we used a game simulator a long time ago but those models aren't really reliable.
The simulation being discussed in this thread - is far more simple - it requires more simple text, video based content with probability analysis and discussing likely outcomes.
Yes 100% please feel free to use AI but attribute any modelling to the AI.Would AI be applicable, I work with prompts a lot that's kinda my job along with probabilistic methods?.
Accolades for going down be like.
